Wrecked my crank.....

...I removed my Truvativ GXP crank to change a chain-ring but ended up knocking loose the pressed drive side axle end. 
Straight for the bin.
As I needed something quick for tomorrow, the local MTB shop sold me a Shimano XT M762 crank for €190 including fitting. (Also involved removing the Truvativ GXP adapters from my Hope BB).
After a little hunting around, it turns out the M762 was a custom XT crank made just for Specialized although I can't find much more information.
So I'm wondering if this was a good deal....? Anyone else have this crank and is it really the same as the M770 as I was told in the shop?

Looks like it's just a custom colour verson (Shimano do this occasionally, such as the new cubes which come with all black XT crankarms), they would have sold you a normal one but I'm guessing they are struggling to get any in 9-speed format at the moment (as are we, Shimano are not getting enough stock out as everything has switched to 10) hence they have found something that will work at short notice.
A 9-speed Deore chainset could be had for £80 (retail) but has neither the same weight or quality of bottom bracket bearing cups so you can't really compare, the current XT one is £160 RRP so it sounds like you have had a reasonably fair deal, yes it's an older crank but better than being without a bike.

Hey Matthew. Cheers for the info and it's a bit of a relief that I wasn't taken for a ride. I know the bike shop well as I've bought two bikes from them in the past, but I know they are expensive for parts and accessories. Either way, the crank itself was €150 (130GBP), plus €40 for labour.
Just need to try it out!!
