Hi all,
Had a play with my new camera at the weekend and shot a short little video at Woburn on the sunny Saturday just gone. Came out not too bad after a little edit.

You clearly are not following the same skill set as i use at Woburn! It's a nice little run down that pump track on the southside of the jumps area isnt it!

I seem to be enjoying photo's/videoing as much as riding at the moment tho it's difficult with mates getting annoyed with "just one more run...." all the time!!
I was wondering about the place myself. I only live about five miles away so it's an easy cycle for me to get there. I'm only just getting back into mountain biking after a 13 odd year gap though so I'm not sure whether it's suitable for amateurs. I'd be worried about getting in the way of more experienced riders and pissing them off.
No, the great thing about woburn is there are tracks there for ALL skills! From wide open sandy runs that you could get 15 bikes side by side down, to narrow single rut runs between the trees, inc flats, climbs, obsticles, ditches, decents, leafy tracks. You name it, you can find it. And there is enough surrounding routes to put together a decent 20km route on the easy stuff if you want!!
tbh, the "jumps area" is a tiny percentage of what is there if you look, and sure it's got some extreme terrain, but i personaly prefer just getting out and exploring the more "backroute" parts of the heathland.

In that case I'll probably give it a look. That area was already on my radar as being a natural bike ride route out from where I live anyway as there are several bridleways taking me in that direction. I'm also lucky enough to live about the same distance from Chicksands as well so will head over there for a play before long too.
How does the permit system at Woburn work? On the website it says that you just pay your 10 quid to the warden if you see him, but people posting on other discussion groups seem to be saying that they've been 'caught' riding without a permit as though you need to arrange a permit before going?
I also read in a magazine recently that Woburn could be closing soon, possibly next month. Has anyone heard any more definite news on this yet? I don't want to pay my 10 quid for just a couple of weeks use!

We were there all day Saturday without a permit and didn't see a single warden. How does the permit system at Woburn work? Chatted to the warden last weekend, you just pay him if he's there, £2 for the day or £10 for the year.
There were issues with the lease but its all been sorted so the biking area is gunna stay.
Woburn is a much better place to ride than chicksands now, mainly because Woburn is built and maintained by local riders whereas chicksands is run by (in my eyes) work-shy money grabbers.

yeah, the leaves are down, amazing how it changes the look and feel of the place, (even to the point of us wondering if the track we were on was actually the track we were on a few times;-)
Pretty slippy, and still a bit damp in places but not too bad, just watch out for the wet roots, now THEY are slippy ;-) And a lot of the deep sand tracks are actually rideable now they have a bit of dampness holding them together.
