Jumped on the fixie bandwagon!

Chap near me sells them, Pretty nice quality for the money and the design is spot on.

So much fun to ride fixed, Had a few moments where I tried to stop pedaling to set myself up for speedbumps etc and nearly came off, Riding home from the pub tonight is going to be interesting!

Whipped the back brake off for now, Still running the front, Not brave enough to ride brakeless yet!

Don't ride brakeless, seriously.

There's just no reason for it, I rarely used my front brake but it comes in handy in emergencies.

Another vote for *not* going brakeless. It's a bewildering thing to do.. I run both front and rear brakes on mine because in the event that some peabrain pulls out in front of me in a car or lorry, I want to be able to STOP.

Who said anything about being "alternative"? Don't get me wrong I can't stand "fixie"-riding hipsters as much as the next guy, and working in a cycling orientated coffee shop in East London I see quite a lot of them.

But don't put all fixed riders in the same box, people have been riding fixed for training purposes for decades now, in fact most serious road racers will have one as a winter bike where the simplicity of them means that there's not much to go wrong when all the st on the roads that you get at this time of year is thrown up at it.

I got my first fixed bike just over 2 years ago and after the first few weeks my fitness had shot up, they really are great for training with.

And for £250, you can't really go wrong.
