hi all,

first venture into this forum, probably because i'm a lazy knacker smile

a friend of mine wants to start building bikes on a commercial basis. he told me this after a great many beers which resulted in my offering my servies for nothing to come up with a design for the frame jigs and the manufacturing drawings so he can have this made.

naturally, he's taken me up on this, and i know diddly squat about the subject. i intend to sit down with him and work out what he needs it to do, but i was wondering if anyone here had any input or could point me towards a useful resource. if the design is good and my friend doesn't mind, i'm sure i could make the plans available to those who get involved.

cheers,
shirt.

ive built steel frames for 25 years and also built my own jigs and would be happy to help out
He must be mad or have very thick beer goggles on if he thinks you can make a decent living from making frames
probably better to discuss via email

Hi all, Im also about to undertake the building of a Carbonfibre Time trial frame, but this is purely for my own use, but
to build commercialy in a world fulll of huge mass producers may be pi**ing in the wind. unless you can come up with something that really is differnt.
I wish you luck, but dont start booking holidays in the Caribian yet !
www.ceeway.com could be a source of frame kits

apologies for the delay in responding, but there's some great food for thought there, cheers guys.

i have no idea what his commercial aspirations are, but i gather he's a talented machinist and welder with a passion for this subject. he's also in a semi-pro band so i guess the ability to flex his hours is quite handy. its more than just pub chat anyway, hence having to put my own into action smile

andy - i will take you up on your kind offer of assistance [expect a pm soon]. he's sent me pics of the kind of thing he wants which looks straight forward enough, but its the ins and out i am stumped with - tube sizes, range of adjustment etc, piece clamps etc.

as i say, i have no use for the plans myself so as it progresses i'll make them available.
