My last ride was Sept last year, it was the 85 mile Exposure night ride. I went to hosi for an op not long after and have been banned from the bike since. I rode the whole 1K to work this morning on my SS and was totally knackered!! I really need to get some riding done
I knew Id be unfit but not as bad as I am!

I'm dreading returning to MTBing this week. I've been abroad for the last 15 or so months and haven't been near a bike in that time. Before I left I was very satisfied with my fitness level; able to ride trail centres all day without any issues. I need to get back to some kind of fitness for the middle of Feb though, when I have a whole weekend's worth of riding in Wales sorted.
It's going to be a struggle I think!

Not sure yet. Probably Brechfa and Afan I would imagine.
Just back in from my first attempt out on the bike. Just a run along a local cycle path. 20kms in just over an hour. Used to be able to go 30kms in a similar time. Going to take some serious commitment to get back to anything like I used to be!

Quick question regarding getting fit again. I'm currently planning on doing one day on and one day off the bike. My reasoning being that a rest day's important to help rebuild muscles etc. However, I'm not aching at all following my ride the day before yesterday so am thinking maybe a more rigorous regime of everyday with an intensive day followed by a more relaxed ride might speed things up?
What's the general consensus?

This wont suit everyone but I do this when I get back on and it works for meWhat's the general consensus?
I ride Mon1hr Tue1hr Wed1hr Sat2hr, I do this for the first month while gradually upping the pace. I use it to get my arse used to the bike again and to get my body used to riding without puking on the handlebars.
I normally feel a lot better after this and start throwing in Wed 2/3hr night rides (prob 2hr riding time as its a social ride)longer rides on the weekend and the 3 1hr rides during the week I cane them. In 2 to 3 months Im normally back to where I was fitness and belly size. Ive done this 3 times now and Im about to do it the fourth time (post operation recovery)
