Anyone done this? I'm off up to Edinburgh tomorrow, for a few days, and have access to a mate's bike up there, so am not taking "sports equipment" with me, just a standard suitcase. Can I carry a helmet onto the aircraft or do I have to check it in? Don't fancy subjecting it to what I know happens behind the scenes...

Easyjet are strict on luggage, they only allow one "thing" as hand luggage. I've seen women told to stuff their handbags into their hand luggage.

They will try and make you have just one carry on luggage.

Do as Richard Westbrook did and wear your crash helmet onto the plane, as he wouldn't allow his £5k race crash helmet to be put in the hold! biggrin

Not sure if one of these fits in the 'hand luggage' sizes?

I've done it several times flying out to the Alps with Easyjet - never had a problem and neither have any of my mates. Took it in addition to normal hand luggage.

Coming back from Geneva on Sunday evening, with Easyjet, several people boarded with helmets hanging off their back packs and one chap had a full face hanging off his ABS pack (trigger removed).
