Hi guys, as it says above really, my first venture into these parts of PH...

My question is how difficult would it be to restore an old bike? The reason being that I have an old Raleigh Chopper in the shed that has definitely seen better days (in the '70s). It has been in the garage for most of its life and has now in recent years but not too long ago been relegated to the shed.

I would like to get it out and start riding it about the place in the summer. I realise it will be heavy, slow and impractical but its more for the retro factor really before any of you carbon riding, lycra wearing cycle fans show up hehe

Any thoughts on what I should do to it? There are some rust patches coming through, it obviously needs two new (white wall) tyres and maybe a new chain. Have I missed anything? Ideally I would like to sort the metal out and spray it but I fear it may lose its patina if I couldn't replace the red-on-purple CHOPPER running down the frame.

I shall post some pictures up tomorrow when I can get some decent ones, it is a bit dark atm.

Over to you...
