I am going to be in Wales tomorrow and may have a couple of hours spare, usually I am in the Swansea area so head up to Afan for a ride (usually Penhydd)

However, tomorrow I will be in the Cardiff/Newport area and was wondering if there are any trails over that way that I could spend a couple of hours at. If I do end up over Swansea way (unlikely) which of the other trails at Afan are similar to Penhydd

The closest centre to Cardiff / Newport is Cwmcarn, but you're in luck because it has some of the best single track in Wales. It's maybe a bit more technical than Penhydd but not much.

Carry on up the Afan valley to Glyncorrwyg for The Wall/ Whites Level. I'm a DH'er mainly, when I get to ride XC trails these trails are usually all the same to me. Penhydd = Wall = Whites = Cwmcarn

Now the downhill in Cwmcarn, that berm and the doubles at the bottom. Now that's what I call a trail!
