Have a long weekend training course at Exeter Uni coming up but should get some time to get out and about too... if I take the MTB with me any decent cycling to be had thereabouts?

Dartmoor I imagine for starters...

Haldon is excellent - it's near the racecourse at the top of Haldon Hill. Everyone catered for from bimbling families to psycho downhillers. Me and my lad's footy team had a great morning up there the other week managing a decent enough 11 1/2 miles in the couple of hours we were there. They also have a workshop there, cafe and cycle hire too.

Haldon is very good, there is plenty to explore off the oranised trails too.

You are not far from some decent rides on Dartmoor and there are few forests and rides not far out of exeter from Uni too.

Thanks for the replies... got up onto the edge of Dartmoor via the B3212, then just picked up a series of forest bridleways and byways toward Bridford before looping round on the lanes via Clifford Bridge and Dunsford. Tad lumpy - 35 miles distance covered, just under a mile of vertical climbing! eek

Beautiful scenery smile

If you are still down this way you may want to try Woodbury common aswell, various biking trails around there.
