Main Event Rain Off Values
Discussion
Monday Ticket: £32 gate / £27 adv
Monday Grandstand: £9 gate / £8 adv
Fair enough...100% refund.
Sunday & Monday Ticket: £20 gate / £17 adv
Pay for 2 days but get 1. Sounds like a 50% deal to me. The refunds are down to approx 33.3%
Weekend Ticket: £10 gate / £8 adv
Pay for 4 days but get 3. 25% refund deal? Nope, not even that. Less than 15%.
A rain-off value on a weekend ticket from last years main event or finals (cant remember which) was £25 without a full days racing being lost like this year (race day itself in this case!!!).
Wondering just where the logic and fairplay is...weekend ticket holders in my opinion would be the mainstay, far-travelled supporters yet here it looks like they're worth less.
Personally I find £8 pro-rata compared to a daytrippers full refund is a bit of a kick in the bearings.
Not saying it isn't value for money and that they have to offer rain-offs at all (though it is in SPRs interests) but I'll be keeping a closer eye on the weather reports before taking the a chance on a weekend ticket again!!!!

If you were a first time visitor yesterday and didn't see a wheel turn in anger would you consider coming back? You would if you got a free entry again...
Santa Pod are playing a clever game of keeping newbies interested.
Will you be going again even though you feel short changed from your rain off?
Thought so.

Whilst I take your point, it it worth the argument about potentially another £7? I think the point is you made more of a saving with the weekend/advance ticket than the one day punter who saw no racing, regardless of whether they came from down the road or your part of the country. I wouldn't let it put me off advance tickets.

Agreed I'm not bothered about the £7 or whatever, and I'm glad for those who saw nothing to get their full value for that day.
When spreading the word the question 'what if it rains?' has been confidently met until now.
I think the rain-off values have served as a good loss-leader in the past, but when faced with a temperamental forecast an £8 refund against a £70 ticket doesn't carry that reassurance any more.
Sad about the 'us and them' situation though.

It's an £8 refund against a £60 ticket or £10 against a £70 ticket purchased on the gate, but, hey ho.When spreading the word the question 'what if it rains?' has been confidently met until now.

IMHO, I got more than value for money for the £60 Saturday and Sunday cost me. Given the weather conditions, the racing was excellent, and the £10 rain off will pay towards Euro Finals admission.
Roll on Tierp, please don't rain there, the journey home is a bit longer!
I've always found SPR's rain off values fair. This was brought home last year at Mantorp.
I paid approx £125 for a four day ticket including a grandstand seat. Due to copious amounts of wet stuff over the weekend I saw only a day and a half of racing. No refund or rain off value on the ticket. I paid, it rained, tough!

Santa Pod take a gamble/hit on the weather as we all do, and yes I think I got my moneys worth.
The option of 3 day tickets has been taken away, so if you cant get there on day 1 you 'lose out' on your weekend ticket already. Then rain off values not in proportion with other ticket holders'...not very balanced is all I was saying.
And yes you do save on multi-day tickets which is why I used percentages.
Of course I'll be back but if I cant get day one off work then I may resort to a Sunday/Monday ticket for the euro-finals and skip day 2 altogether especially if the weather looks 'changeable'. Then see what the go is weatherwise up to Sunday morning.

I bought my 4 day advance ticket back in January for just £48 as everybody could have done if they had wanted to. I cannot understand why some people are actually moaning about rain-off refund values.
Same reason some people are moaning becuase they found a bit of mud in the toilets when it had been raining and they were in a field......CRR said:

It's not a moan it's an observation on tiered favors. The advance ticket (not always an option until a certainty of being able to attend) at £48 (bargain) is still affected pro-rata. A two day gate ticket would have been the better option with hindsight.
The Pod clearly must take into account all of its discount option values when applying rain off values and as discount tickets were available at £48 for the weekend up until a week before the event then I'm sure a large proportion of weekend spectators used one of the discount options. This means the value of the one day we missed is a maximum of £12. SPR are offering £10 value for those of us who have those tickets against a future date paid on the gate. So in reality you lose £2. Can you really expect SPR to give anyone more than the face value of the ticket?
So actually: Four Day Ticket = £48, Rain-off Value = £10/£8 = 20.8% or 16.6% so I really don't see that there is a problem.
If you chose to pay £70 for a weekend ticket on the gate which was available 7 days earlier for £48 then I suggest it is not SPR who have got it wrong.

Good point but the flaw is the £48 discounted availability only ran up to Jan 31st, £60 after - and rain-offs for both are worth £8 not £10.Just a few quid I know. I think the key phrase is pro-rata for all ticket holders/customers.

There's only you thinks there's a flaw...I think the key word is pro-rata for all ticket holders.
Discount four day tickets were available at £48 each up until Friday 20th when Mrs Mighty bought ours as were discount Sun/Mon tickets at £40.80. So I suggest the flaw doesn't lie here.

I wasn't aware of that as the Pods website was (and still is) clearly quoting £60 deadlined the 20th.Discount four day tickets were available at £48 each up until Friday 20th when Mrs Mighty bought ours. So I suggest the flaw doesn't lie here.
