Purely out of interest:

My vote: 1/4 mile (where stopping distance is adequate for safety)
viewpoint: spectator.

Based on:
time honored: moving the goalposts now seems pointless and becomes inconsistent with all other classes (except JrD, which being based on reaction time would be the extreme future conclusion to TF as well, "the year is 2025, TF cars break the beams and shut off to decide the winner!!???" (Please observe the tongue in cheek before commenting on that one)).

races can still be won or lost in the last 320

dont see the logic in the argument over speed safety as many runs hit a higher speed before crossing the stripe anyway

I'll sit back now and see what fireworks go off tongue out

I can't imagine anybody actually prefers 1,000ft to full quarter except maybe on cost grounds though in a post on Facebook Lex Joon has said contrary to what has been said in the past most engine damage is done between 60 and 660ft. It's something the NHRA seems to be forcing onto drag racing for safety grounds I find pretty spurious. So long as a track has a decent length shutdown area is without an obvious hazard at the end of it I would go for the full quarter every time. It's the traditional length, the times mean more to me, and if you stand 100 yards or more down the track it does not look like the car switches off just as soon as it gets going.

Oh good, another whining thread.

Why not start another "bring back the barn" thread while you're at it.

It's up to cheer leaders like you to enthuse us luddites about the brave new world of 1,000ft racing !

If only people would read what's on the screen Bill, you included in this instance as I've said it all before.

I prefer 1/4 mile racing, but if there is a valid need to reduce it to 1000ft then I'm not going to stamp my feet and cry about it.

If the shutdown at Tierp was the full length of the runway there would be no problem. The sand trap is not at the end.

Obviously that would have cost more in barriers though for that increase in safety.

A poll on something that's already been done to death.

Good thinking.

Baby.

a) I wasnt aware of a poll feature so just typed up
b) am thinking the demographics are relevant too, ie what viewpoint and reasons which I doubt a vote button covers

Set the example out trying to make it easy and to isolate the subject matter from recent threads about other things. (Silly me forgot where I was and who's to answer to when speaking wink.
Toooooo f***n' Hilarious biggrin )

Thank you and Congratulations on the first reply to be on topic/contributory, on page 1 no less.

Have you got Bill on ignore ? 1st reply, despite already airing his opinion on other threads. Likewise I answered, despite the pointlessness of the thread.

Time for you to start a thread about starting race meetings at mid-day so you have time to drive down ?

Only if there's an absolutely zero chance of rain at any time of course. No point coming otherwise is there, you massive race fan.

...and you your own, about the blight on the sport from lowly spectators with an active interest to save you the trouble of crashing everyone elses.

A race fan indeed I am your highness. Far travelled, longstanding, hardweathered and well spending on a tight budget. If you want to get personally insulting (again) a public forum is perhaps not the place.

The nurse has this for you...

I treat as I find.

Let me know when you've opened your own track, or started promoting race meetings, or started your own race team, or started funding a race team. I'm sure it'll run absolutely perfectly, with no interruptions or breakdowns, and will leave absolutely everyone who attends, or watches online, or just follows the coverage on ED, feeling that there was absolutely no aspect that could possibly have been better or more suited to their tastes.

Honestly, it'll be amazing, I can't wait.
