York Raceway underutilised??
Discussion
Hi All,
Ive started racing this year and am ruiing in American Superstock and Sportsman e.t. at York Raceway.
Im in Durham so its the closest track.
The club guys there are first rate and the racers are a really friendly and helpful bunch but the place is in worse shape than it was back in the 90's when I first went there.
The question Im posing is why has the place not developed? When you see how much the Pod has come on since then (Ive not been to Shakey for years so dont know what its like) I wondered what the story is?
Im not wanting to slag anyone off here (and am probably risking hacking some people off), Im really enjoying myself there but am keen to get opinion on whats happened and why its not better.
Over to you guys?

I dont know the full politics behind it but i believe its mainly down to the fact that the track is 'rented'. The land is owned by the local farmer i think and the money is too tight to spend on a proper repair job on the in road and for that matter the return road from the track.
A lot of the racers and marshalls volunteer their time and work hard to keep the track going.
As you say, the atmospere is fantastic but the facilities are adequate at best.
Still my favourite track. I cant wait to get back there.
