Impressive, but those closing speeds on the other car are ridiculously dangerous in my opinion!

AND it is a "Doorslammer" in those quotes as its illegal in Aussie Top Doorslammer. Its also illegal in comp eliminator leaving Super Sedan as the only option which is what leads to those ridiculous closing speeds which I agree are just way too great to be considered safe.

Got potential for similar in Super Pro, Syd's car could realistically run 5.9s@250+. Could be argued that 260mph in a 2700lb+ car is dangerous in its own right.

Yep......Syd doing 6.0s@250 chasing a car doing 8.9s@140 isn't the best mixture, but as you say.....anything is dangerous really!

Exactly what difference does that make? If for some reason the slower car had turned left near the top end (it does happen) there is still a speed difference of 100mph, not good.

The aussies do well with the numbers game as they seem to like building cars that are fast, but often without a class to run them in.
We struggle because we have rules to follow if you want to actually race.

Sorry for the newbie question, can somebody tell me the difference between a pro mod and a doorslammer?

Doorslammer is a generic term for any vehicle to which access for the driver is gained through conventionally placed opening doors (as opposed to a dragster, altered or Funny Car). Promod is a specific class of doorslammer built to a set of rules and regs. HTH

I remember when Fast Freddys truck and the Patrick Wiikstrom frist came over here. They were not allowed to run in pro mod due to certain rules (Billet Heads?) So they were doorslammmers instead of pro mod which was weird. Or "Outlaw Pro mod" haha.

Two things I'll never forget about those two in super pro.....

1000ft burnouts when 60ft was the norm....
Seeing that magical truck run 6s for the first time
Seeing Patrik's Nova go 6.25@220+ when pro mods were in the 6,7s, still the quickest and fastest run in super pro smile

It is, but i dont really count it as super pro run personally, any one could enter with a pro mod or top methanol car and "set a record"

They could but haven't tongue out no different to Derek or Syd's cars which are/were pretty much TAD spec.

If they were legal to run in the class then it's a 'record' no matter whether they were purpose built for it or not.

The whole 'can you have a record in a bracket class' is an entirely different argument/discussion altogether! wink
