Courtney Force driving the funny car has made today's Sunday Times which is good as I can't remember any coverage before. It's not a particularly accurate piece though talking about the Force sisters breaking into the macho world of drag racing for the first time {what about Shirley Muldowney or even Paula Murphy 40 years ago }.

Hmm, I've just read the Mail article. I can't believe that Troxel or Muldowney didnt win a single event (it suggests that Ashley force was the first woman to win an event?)

Ashley Force was the first female to win in Funny Car, at the time Shirley and Melanie had multiple wins in Top Fuel Dragster but not Funny Car.

The Sunday Times article is identical, though under a different writer's name. Suggests this might be a release picked up from a press agency -- not one with any informed knowledge of drag racing, I'd say.

Thanks for informing us that Danica Patrick is "...the most successful (female) driver in US automobile racing history."

Ashley and Melanie both won their first Fuel FC events 2008 but Ashley was first winning at Atlanta and Melanie winning 2 events later at Bristol.
