As readers of Eurodragster.com and the Official Bennett Racing website will have read on the 30th April, Bennett Racing announced sponsorship from Fuel Injection Enterprises in the USA, well we are very pleased to say the latest news is that earlier this month FIE took delivery of the magneto from the SuperPower Bantam, in this case a SuperMag II - very used to say the least!

As we expected due to their already superb reputation for quality and service, they have completely rebuilt and refurbished our magneto, and it’s now a fully functioning 'jacked up' SuperMag IV. To say we are happy is an understatement.

All told they have upgraded the magneto with a rare earth magnet, completely dissembled, cleaned and inspected all parts, fitted new points, a new capacitor, cleaned and checked the rotor and cap, adjusted for optimal output and is then run in to ensure that everything is correct, also to put a little time on the contact point rubbing block and a little heat in the windings. The point gap is reset, the edge gap and rotor phasing is adjusted, and then the mag is run through the RPM range to check for spark stability, current and voltage. Finally, the output is checked at the standard 2500 engine RPM and recorded on a comprehensive test report, as well as 10,000 RPM to check for any high RPM problems. Also provided was a matched 28900A Red Top transformer with the mag, used during the output test for real-world numbers. As you will agree a pretty exhaustive list!

FIE also provides a number of other upgrades and services for other magneto's; they can DOUBLE the output of your standard Vertex mag very economically, if you pick up an old mag of eBay and need the rotation changed and things freshened up? No problem! They perform check-ups, service and rotation changes to MSD Pro-Mags including the 20 amp upgrade for ProMag 12's. They can take any core magneto and build it up into a mag that is exactly right for your application. Our upgrade to a SuperMag IV is perfectly suited to the SuperPower Bantam's predicted boost numbers and compression ratio. FIE also provides bigger Super-Mag's, these being the SuperMag V rated at up to 8 amps and the brand new SuperMag+ rated at over 10 amps!

As previously mentioned FIE recently purchased the entire magneto manufacturing business from Mallory Ignition. They are now the home of the Super-Mag and SprintMag. They also service and upgrade other brands of magneto such as MSD, Vertex, Wico, Harmon & Collins.

Check out the huge parts list on the website, if you need it they probably have it, such as magneto's, rotors, caps, Pro cap conversion kits, transformers, points boxes, wiring harnesses, mag drives, oil pump drives, quick release clamps, bronze gears, kill switches, buzz boxes, points, plug wires, they are a total one stop shop for ALL of your magneto ignition needs.

Will you be running any of the cars this season?

The NFAA is badly in need of entries and you put on such a professional show it is a shame if you are not competing.

Yes mate, will have the SuperPower Bantam out later this year (building this new car now) to compete in the Supercharged Outlaws and Super Pro ET and also my brothers DarkSide slingshot again rebuilding for this year for the Wild Bunch class.

As for my old mans car, we want to race alky funny car so were very busy searching for sponsors to come on board to help with the financial side of this step up.

NFAA is without doubt in need of entries as it has been for the last 3 years but I think what with the current economic climate and politics within the class, sadly numbers are down.
