Videos of my disagreement with the wall at Santa Pod?
Discussion
Mopar Nationals - Saturday - just before lunch
Bounced my red Monaro off the wall after losing the rear just after the tree. Still trying to figure out what happened, so any videos / photos would be greatly appreciated.
Hope it wasn't because I was sending a text at the time, while eating a pasty.
PS sorry for the delay while they swept up after me.

Hi Arnie, just out of interest which lane were you in?
All of them (ha)I started in the right hand lane (up against the embankment) and ended up in the left hand one. I also had a run in the left hand lane, pulling a 10.6 on next to no boost at all (6psi). My reg starts KM05.
There's a picture of the damage on the Holden/Monaro forum (last thread I started).
Some guy had a cracking video on his iPhone and has promised to post it on YouTube. No sign just yet.
Head on was my thoughts it spun. In the milliseconds it took to happen I was really chuffed that I pulled it straight. Then I realised I was still travelling sideways. I expected a light bump, th chair broke and the centre console smacked me in the left kidney. I couldn't breath until the marshals arrived.
The car is well stuffed. The force of the impact ripped the terminals off the battery and that was on the offside of the car. I think I've lined up a clean shell, so it won't take much to rebuild it.
It's a shame, because it was only the second outting. I managed a 10.6 on just 6psi. The engine runs an easy 17.5psi. I'd just fitted an AMS boost controller and was sure it would be pulling in the nines by the end of the day. I'll have to wait for next spring now...

I felt for you in that accident. From what I could see, the car over corrected itself to the left and where it appeared you kept your toe in and fought the car, it was going left and only left. Such a shame as the car looked great pre-accident
Hopefully, you'll get that shell and get it rebuilt.
Hope you're ok now too ?

Yes - the car had never responded like that before. Mild squirming on full throttle, readily managed with small steering corrections. The data logger shows I lifted off, but not completely. I was thrown around a fair bit and don't recall what happened with my feet. I certainly didn't hammer on the brakes, which is probably how I managed to straighten it up.A new shell and a few months of shifting bits over will put it back on the strip in time for spring (John's busy at the moment). I'll have to be patient.
Ribs, neck and left kidney hurt. Soon forgotten.
