While cleaning out my newly aquired 67 Camaro I found two old timeslips, they are both from a place in Florida called the "sunshine drag strip" they are yellow, and have the NHRA logo on, also on the bottom is "Chrondeck Electronic Timers"

I also found the car had a prop cage and some other ods and sods that were non standard.

I am hoping to find out what sort of era these timeslips (handwritten) are from.

Once I get a pic I will pop it up on here. I love finding stuff like this that gives clues to the cars past.

I did a bit of googling but did not turn up much info, lots of pics from recently but nothing relevant to the timeslips i have here, the strip was closed for a bit but might well be open again now.

You could try posting the same enquiry on the US site Nitromater.com (you might have to sign up first). They have a few old geezers there who might be able to help.

Sunshine Dragstrip opened in 1960 and was in action for 50 years, it closed briefly and is currently in action again under the name "ShowTime Dragstrip". The track is located in Clearwater, Florida, on the west side of Tampa Bay.

I don't know how late the hand written Chrondek slips were in use but I have a few myself from Capitol Raceway, Maryland, and that was in the mid-70's.

Yes, Nitromater or Yellowbullet are good places to go for questions on the subject.

Not bad times for the 1/8th!

I had a '67 with a 327 and a four speed it was a really nice car to drive, discs up front, roller rockers, decent manifold and carb, very original open heqadlamp like yours rather than RS ( I prefer open) and the SS kit so centre console with guages etc etc.

Post pics of the rebuild as you go, it would be nice to see it progress.

Well, I have been working hard to strip it down and get an idea of how much sheet metal I need to buy. The trunk floor has gone, both 1/4s are shot and the roof is done for.

I had the local metalworking genius build a jig, I gave him the dimensions and he made it for me, it was easier to get him to do it as he has a big band saw and a very flat fabrication bench. besides, it left me free to strip the car to put it on the jig.

We used an old Fischer body manual for the dimensions, the shell was actually pretty good and went straight on all the pins with no hassle.

If anyone knows of new sheet metal parts in the UK let me know. anything to save shipping and customs on awkward stuff like cowl panels and trunk floors !

I have posted your pictures on facebook and asked my fellow racing friends on the West coast of Florida your question.

The track reopened this year as Showtime dragstrip here is the website http://showtimedragstrip.us/contact.html

It closed down as Sunshine at the end of last year when the lease was lost in a bidding war to the new track operatior.

I was luckly to win at one of the last bracket races there last year, it was the best 1/8 mile track in the South East for traction.

If I find anything out I will let you know.

Thank you very much for the help, I am interested in the cars history and finding these slips was a great, I love stuff like this.
I have the slips safely stored in the cars history file and am going to keep pics of the rebuild.

It started life in the second week of january 1967, 327ci, originally Gold paint and Gold interior (non headrest bucket seats) options were titned glass and the two speed trans.

I got it as a primer red, home made matt black interior, rusty car with a later 327, a 3 speed trans, a Posi rear end, a big Carter Carb on an Edelbrock intake and a prop cage, some Corvette rallye wheels too. Its had a hard knock to the drivers rear 1/4 and its mostly bondo back there. the rust has got most of the rest of it.

Plans are to rebuid the lot, engine, trans and chassis/body. Paint it Black and put a red interior in it. Probably up the spec to RS/SS while I am at it, once its done and I have had it out and about for a bit I will probably put a bigger motor in it although if i find too much wrong with this one then it might get done sooner rather than later. It's having Injection either way.

Sorry, not on FB, only really on here because it's not got lots of flashing lights and bells and whistles and when you type a reply it's simple black text in a white box !

I am a bit, analogue, I prefer spanners to be honest.
