Hello all I am interested in creating a AC cobra track car.

From what I have been told, I will need around 800 hp, and thus have chosen a supercharged LSX with Richmond gearbox. Generally I am aiming for 60 in around 3 seconds and over 200 mph with hard top. However not having built a cobra this fast before - it takes 400 hp or so to achieve 180 mph! I would like to verify that this is in the right ballpark, and if this would even be allowed db wise at tracks.

Additionally is there anyway of making it quiet enough to drive on the road, again for noise, and pollution purposes- just to drive to the track, but I guess the old bill would stop me for making too much noise I guess

thanks

As this is on the drag racing forum there is no Db limit for street cars on the dragstrip. Obviously you would need suitable silencing for street use. There have been at least two quick AC Cobra drag cars and John Woolfe raced his genuine Cobra back in the mid 60's I believe.

you could have a Y piece in the exhaust and a removable plate at the open exit but would a muffler lose much real HP?
