I think I remember seeing the reporter looking quite terrified on the startline at Main Event. Hopefully more people in the motorsport community will realise just how spectacular the sport is after reading the article.

I remember in Motor Sport magazine in the early 70s their reporter saw a meeting which cumulated in a fuel funny race between Prudhomme and McKewan and he said it was the most thrilling thing he had ever seem in motor sport. Didn't cover it again though !

However, Simon Arron, the article's author, insists he will return. Only problem: SPR's big race dates invariably conflict with a Grand Prix, and Simon earns his living covering F1. Only reason he made it to The Main Event was the change of date to Jubilee weekend. Given the weather, his visit was about the only good thing the date-change achieved.

And thanks be to Gemma Briggs, the MSA magazine editor, for commissioning Simon in the first place. It was all her idea, and a good one too.
