I went to the April NHRA race at Las Vegas last year. Great event, and a great track (I did the Frank Hawley Super Comp course there in 2010 too). I'd considered going to the Gatornationals instead, but was put off by the weather risk - two out of the three previous years were rain-delayed. Vegas is of course a safer bet in that respect, particularly if you're flying in from the UK and don't have any flexibility on time.

There was a good field of cars at the April race in nitro, alcohol and sportsman classes, but no Pro Mod which was a shame. The October race is apparently a bigger event, and does include Pro Mod.

I'd like to try a different event this year, but am struggling to find the right combination: good field of cars (including Pro Mod), direct flights from UK, low risk of rain. Houston possibly, but I've been to that track before and it's way out of town, with not much else round there to recommend it. Any suggestions?

i have been before ..in fact i do more races in the USA than i go to here as i travel to the states frequently anyway. Always try to coincide my business travel with a race.I just wondered if many where going over this year.

Its got to be the biggest and the best . . . US Nationals at Indy (Even though it rained alot last year)the weather is generally spot, over 900 cars race at this event. We fly to Chicago from Manchester with American Airlines then drive down to Indy just over 2 hours. If you want to see the best then go to the big go! you will not be disappointed at all!
