There is nothing here that will hurt racers as far as speedgroup/trackbak is concerned
there has always been a divide, it just got wider
Davids departure is a blow but is isnt totaly gone as he will still advise and no situation is permanent.
Im hoping for some good news soon
For the common fan out there how do you see this affecting the racers/meetings graham? In simple terms what does it mean having trackbak/fia/fim as a promotors or speedgroup? What's the difference? Pros/cons?there has always been a divide, it just got wider

Kk well fingers crossed, worrying from the outside looking in, I don't really care who runs it aslong as they do what's best for the sportit wont affect anything

I hope your view is accurate Graham. Remember how stupid it all used to be when Avon Park (as was) the Pod and York all actively worked against each other. How the various owners of the Pod tried to do each other down. There was IHRA and goodness knows how many other sanctioning bodies. Like "fan" says, division and in-fighting is the last thing needed.
I won't panic until you tell me to, OK?

I just worrie abit because there are people within speed group who hav alot of pull with the scandanavian dragracing scene and might ir might not may feel there noses are being pushed out and try and put all there eggs in the edrs instead of fim fia ... this thread aint trying to get anyones back up just a thought in the back of my mind ... all we want as fans are the best cars and bikes at every event in euorpe ... is there any early indicators the sweeds are planning a trip over the pod come may or is that unfare to speculate on here ...
If you truly believe that Speedgroup weren't already putting all their eggs in an EDRS basket I think you may be very naive.
They have been planning an EDRS Nordic Supertwin Challenge for some time taking in at least 5 Scandinavian events although I've been told by a number of Speedgroup members that they have always been told by the powers that be within Speedgroup that the EDRS will only ever be a sportsman only series. So how and why is it suddenly encroaching on the "pro" classes from within the European Championship and why do you think KB has moved to use his rights in what he sees as a more appropriate manner? How long will it be before there is an EDRS Top Fuel Bike Challenge and an EDRS Pro Stock Bike Challenge and then the car classes join those events in a Speedgroup administered EDRS-Pro series and the FIA/UEM European Championship is allowed to die and everything is centred on Scandinavia?

And that's the issue chris, shear greed will kill the sport, the rest of Europe would loose out, but also the Scandinavians would loose out because investment/fan bases and interest n the sport would die...through greed no one would win...it's happened time and time again,.,.why oh why do people want to meddle with things that were going ok in the first place.....They have been planning an EDRS Nordic Supertwin Challenge for some time taking in at least 5 Scandinavian events although I've been told by a number of Speedgroup members that they have always been told by the powers that be within Speedgroup that the EDRS will only ever be a sportsman only series. no one has meddled with anything
KB always owned the bike series and still does no change there
speedgroup administered it for a couple of years but that was all..
if anything is allowed to die because of speed group wanting it all at home it will have nothing to do with kb
there has been a power struggle for years this is the latest round
KB owns the bike series end of story
if its taken badly elsewhere its not his fault

Sorry I should rephrase "meddle" I didn't mean this episode specifically, I just meant in general (like champcar, gt, rallying etc) No power struggle is a good thing, it only ends badly for all parties. I agree though, I suppose it's like Bernie in f1, there will always be people who want change and want to try to run it themselves, but its only when he's not there that people will realise the amount of positives he has brought to the sport.....I'm no drag racing expert and there are far more qualified people than me to comment, but from the outside looking in KB has done a lot of good for the sport and santa pod and long may it continue, and hopefully the teams will get what they want and need out of the sport over the coming yearsKB always owned the bike series and still does no change there

Absolutely agreed Graham... Just a shame that the "by the racers, for the racers" Speedgroup mission seems to have gone out of the window as soon as power has been sniffed.KB always owned the bike series and still does no change there

A new development today with the formation of a new company. Speedgroup is not (yet) part of it. Streamlining or two opposing giants?
Being optimistic, hopefully cooperation and collaboration between all tracks and teams in Europe to take drag racing forward. Fingers crossed!Gassing Station | Drag Racing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
