Safety requirements
Discussion
Thought please on cages, racewear, harnesses and whatever else.
What would be considered the minimum requirement safety wise and what would be the ideal?
My TVR Chimaera (convertible but races roof up) has now run 11.2 and may hit the 10's this year.
I have a 4 point bolt in rear roll bar that is padded.

Have you checked the Blue Book as a guide?
Blue book?Ive seen section 20 of NHRA regs.
It seems there are differing views on my requirements so am looking for further advice or guidance.
I want to race but cant afford to pay for a full cage at the moment.
So its either minimum compliance or running without nitrous to stay above 11.99 or unfortunately finding someone else or somewhere else to race.
To note, when i started running 11's at York i had to fit my 4 point roll bar. That has been accpted and not been a problem but now some views and opinions are vague. I dont want to disrespect anybody giving their views but i just need to be clear on where i stand.
I suggest you contact either Santa Pod Racers Club or Shakspeare County Racers and ask for the rules book. It will give you everything you need to know. Look on Eurodragster at the main page ..there are a number of chassis builders that i am sure could tell you off the top of their heads what u need to do.

It's a simple one really. How fast are you going through top end? 125mph?
Just put a price on your life if the car got into trouble top end. Get a full cage, will help the car anyway providing rigidity.
I think popping a tyre and ending upside down can happen at much less speeds than that.Just put a price on your life if the car got into trouble top end. Get a full cage, will help the car anyway providing rigidity.
I regular terminal at 126, best of 127.
Anyone want to sponsor me?
Not sure my life is worth £850

Firstly what events do you intend to do RWYB only or proper permit meetings? Ignore all MSA blue book sec K if you intend Permit meetings, because the MSA White book ( POD Book ) overrules this. The page you want is page 49 in the 2012 book see GSR 4.10 There is no provision for a bolt in cage in proper drag racing and the tube walls are a thicker spec than say and saftey devices cage.

Actually you are allowed to Bolt in a cage (As long as the wall thicknesses and Tube diameters are correct). What is not allowed is Bolted together cages.
Best thing to do is get hold of a copy of the Drag racing rulebook, available from SPRC or APIRA racers clubs.
Or speak to a MSA Scrutineer such as "Don't Know"...Best thing to do is get hold of a copy of the Drag racing rulebook, available from SPRC or APIRA racers clubs.
