That body looks like the old black Lonsdale FC stormin Norman used to peddle to me....
Nope. The Black Lonsdale car which was badged as a VW, then driven by Ron Sutherland at a couple of UK events, went to Australia with Stu Vallence and became 'Pommie Raider', driven over there by Gary Page with the McGee Quad Cam motor. The JWR car which is in the ad was imported at the same time, and is a similar Lombardo car. This car was the last (so far) Houndog car to run under power as an Opel / Vauxhall Senator. Steve Read also drove this car on a couple of occasions (pics just posted on UKDRN) before Norm Wilding came to drive it. This car was the blue / blue and silver car driven under the JWR banner so successfully by Norm. This was also the car which he took to the states, qualifying at one event with a 5.17, making Norm and this car still Europes Quickest AA/FC. The car later found its way back over here, and Mr Charnley bought the shell some time after then.
The provenance of the car was covered quite extensively on the old Dragsterworld Forum, and I am sure a quick search there will throw up more info, including pics.
