It was Scorpion...it wasnt nailed down as some people decided to move it one night!
Last seen outside the gate rotting in the hedgegrow...some have been heard to say it was a waste of tube and fibreglass...

I think that you are inaccurate in your assessment, Dan....
It was also a waste of copper, steel, paint, parachute silk and an inordinate quantity of parrafin as well.

Lol! What times did it run then?
That depends on whether it had a piece of cardboard running the length of the chassis with the words "Chrondek Rules" written on it... That was when SPR were using the Peter Billinton timing system rather than today's TSI one, however, either way the Guard Beam will have caught Andrew Hurdle out - as indeed it did.

Answers on a postcard lads....

I think Jim is trying to say that the times scorpion recorded were not accurate due to the carboard strip.

Its so ugly it should be launched into space, infact, Top Gear should have used that instead of the reliant robin
The Robin was more aerodynamic.....
It would be nice if we had a museum for such relics. Maybe if a Santa Pod person is reading this they might think it an idea to knock a shed up to put them in and also somewhere for an actual hall of fame etc! After all we have an excellent F1 museum at Donnington so why not at the Pod?
The car in question should not simply be discarded but put on show! Then folk could say this is/is not how to build a jet car etc etc!

Didn't Jim Whelans old FC go on display at Donnington at one point? Then Tony Baker bought it?
I seem to remember a drag racing mueseum being discussed on Dragsterworld...
The DragsterWorld forum is still there... only in read form these days. (oh is the chat room still open? - Anyone know?)
On the subject of Scorpion, yes she was a flying brick, yes a rabbit was probably faster down the quarter mile, but i can't help but feel sorry for the poor lass when people object to her existence!

There is some cracking footage of a run by the car just been posted on UKDRN. Absolutely stunning quality footage.
