Hi drag racers, as some of you know we have started are drag racing season in Florida. Feburday 16-18 it got under way in Bradenton which is on the west coast of Florida and was a very cold start to the season. Here are some pictures from the event, I will add more every day or so hope you enjoy Tony Morris.
This is how cold it was not normal for over here, first time I had a jacket on in years.

Well it a simple fact, with todays close finish line driving you need to see the other car and have to make it as close as you can. In other words you just can not take the stripe by a half a car or more, less than a foot is what your shooting for. In a closed door car it not always possible to see the other car untill it to late.
When I came to the states 15 years ago the 27 roadsters were everywhere, racers then found out by changing to a more up todate roadster like the corvette you could also gain almost 10mph plus see the race around you better.

Jim Jim Jim what's going on, as you can see we are back at it and Orlando is this coming weekend. Good to hear from you and I hope all is well.

I like door cars as well but it's a pain looking though the window net, and it seams in Germany they don't like the roasters too.

So taking it to its conclusion how long before rails are allowed into S/G?
Hopefully never! It's watered down enough with the roadsters already in my opinion. When the Pro Gas class originated, it was a doorslammer only deal, it was only the good old NHRA that let the roadsters in when they "aquired" the idea. That decision led to the majority of the class's founding members to leave. I think if dragsters were allowed in it would sound the death knell for the door cars altogether. No offence intended, and each to their own and all that, but I think Super Comp dragsters are dull enough, never mind Super Gas versions.

I absolutely agree Lee. I think (see above) that all the Mustangs, Corvettes, T'Birds etc roadster pictured above are not doorslammers, and represent the thin end of the wedge, IMHO

Super Gas is great to watch if you know a little of drag racing history, (that's not intended to sound patronising), but what we see as a 'great old car' is sometimes very difficult to explain to a 'first-timer'. I read somewhere that NHRA did not like ten years or older cars as it became annoying to explain to new or potential sponsers how a 1957 car can beat a 2007 car.

Ready when you are Martin
The Camaro...
This car was built here in Orlando by Takash Racecraft, it is the only one he has built and he has had several people ask him to built more. Right now his focus is mainly on his new dragster which has a swing arm set up like many of the current chassis builders. I would say that its 50-50 over here on the Camaro, some like other hate it.
