Firstly, this is not directed at anyone...... but think about 'Joe Public' who may read this forum what do you think that they must think?

If people need to be funny with each other then do it via email so that we don’t have to read it. It shows fans/potential sponsors a side that they don’t want to see or read and make you look like children.

Yes we all want to say our feelings and if I wrote my own I would probably be banned from every forum and website I go on, but I don’t because I try and act abit professional and think about people reading what I write.

Don’t forget that the Internet is not just these few people on this forum it is the world, anyone can read it and anyone can think and make there own mind up about what they read.

This section of Piston Heads is for drag racing chat, news and updates, not people arguing like 10 year old girls.

Anyone can be Captain Tuff man over a keyboard its very easy, but I am sick of logging onto here and reading a load of rubbish.

If you cant participate in a drag racing discussion then log off and don’t log back on.

End of my rant, think the next time you write something just read through it first because all some of you end up doing is making yourself look like an idiot.

I don't think it will Phil, the racing community lost a great facility when you and Gary had to pull the plug on DWFF and all thanks to the stupidity, selfishness and downright bloody mindedness of a few folk with nothing better to fill their lives. This will get nipped in the bud I feel sure.

I agree with Miss C.
Well, since this forum was created last fall,
we are just about to enter the 2007 season, first one here,
and I am looking forward to both the season and the infos & discussions here.

One of the things that I find so fascinating -and great- about european dragracing is:
Once the light goes green, there is a strong and good rivalry, on the track.
But in the pits and workshops the teams are one big community,
with teams helping each other, sometimes even "across the classes".

So my hope is that the upcoming season here will share the "pit spirit",
no trying to win races here, but sharing infos,
maybe getting new fans,
or luring spectators or "roundy-round"racers to come to
"the interesting side of the quartermile guardrails".
Cheers,
Benni

Totally agree.

You cant vouch for the odd troll that comes along, but best thing to do is not be drawn.

The mods here will never let anything get out of order tho.

If we're making pledges about future behaviour can I put in a vote for not copying and pasting news items from America and posting them here. I don't know about you but I am clever enough to read American web sites myself.

I agree with that and how about putting your real names in your profiles?

Well said BR - Only recently joined the forum with my Profuel track time comments, I was rather shocked by the harshness and unpleasantness (only thinly vieled) within some of the replies. So lets all keep it clean and to the point!

How about using real names all the time and do away with nicknames?

Hey guys, this is Pistonheads ,not being funny with each other & using nicknames , again this is Pistonheads & this is just the Drag Racing section of it, not a dedicated serious Drag only forum.
Some of you only seem to frequent/contribute to this section , you should have a read of the other sections to get a feel of what Pistonheads is about , personal abuse is a no no (unless its against a politician ), but just about anything else goes.
Have a read of the 'Thread of the year 2006? for a better idea

Hi MartinD & Guests !
I can´t quite agree with that.
I came to PH for the Drag Racing Forum, and DO like the other sections that I visit,
which are "Biker Banter", "Germany" and the P&P.
In the Biker forum there are mostly bike-related themes,
the questions are answered with good knowledge ,
the tips gratiously taken, and technical problems met with first-hand expertise, generally.

In the forum of germany I try to give info to any topic the other PHers need,
and also hope to meet some of them in person someday.

In the P&P, of course, there is a lot of pi$$-taking (and giving), ranting,
and the sort of "dehydrated" humor
that I like very much about you guys & gals driving on the wrong side of the road....
But even there -almost- any question & topic is treated with some kind of respect,
either to show off the personal knowledge/geekdom or sharing experinces,
or giving tips wich experiences to avoid.

Thanks to the good and effective moderation the amount of trolls and troublemakers
is kept to a surprisingly low level, regarding the sheer mass of members.

The Drag Racing section, however,
is the only one to my knowledge right now dealing with "up-to-date" topics,
OK, there is "the sport today" on UKDRN,
but this one here is more frequented (my guess).
I have never been a member of DW, that was before my "PC @ home" days.
But what happended there should not be repeated again (my wish).

Maybe the big difference in this forum is:
The people posting here are much more likely to meet each other in real life,
as the dragstrips in the UK (and europe) are very rare and few between.
So I treat other members in a way that (hopefully) makes it possible for me
to meet them in the pits, and not having to wear a mask or bulletproof vest.
(Helmets, gloves and SFI firesuits are a different thing, though............,
this is a "dragracing pit" after all)
So I would second the thought of posting under real names,
or at least showing the name / the team the poster belongs to in the profile.
Cheers,
Benni
