From the other thread, I (and I am sure I am not the only one) have been thinking about European and other non-US body styles in Pro Stock and Pro Modified. Here are some of my thoughts. (If anyone is either very wizzy at photoshop, here is your chance!. If anyone has a few million in an ISA due out soon, all the better (yes, I know, Jim!))

Blown Methanol Vectra Estate? (lots of downforce)
Pro-Modified Toyota Prius? (Just because you can!!)
Rover 75 Pro Mod? (Dreadfull Road car, can we make one better?)
SAAB 9-3 Pro Stock (GM Power)
BMW M5?

and just for fun...
Rover SD1 Nostalgia Funny Car (I was going to build one back in the early 1980's, but being only 13 put the mockers on that plan)

JC: In my day I used to dream about what an Opel Manta F/C would look like, but I was 14 and it was 197x

Nice one!

My dream doorslammer already exists in Australia but I'd love one here. Ray Bernard's '57 Chevy Nomad....awesome. As for a modern bodystyle, well, both me and my Dad have a particular favourite, but it's a secret. Watch this space??..................

Hi Old-Style Fanz !
If you mean the MANTA B, this is what it would look like :

It was the TRE KRONOR swedish F/C that was bought and raced by Werner Habermann,
who is still owning it (and occasionaly makes Show Runs in it),
Werner will be at the Main Event as Crew Chief for his sons Timo (TMD) and Dennis (SP/ET).
Cheers,
Benni

Just for Guy...

So Benni, Werner has taken the old Bjorn / John Andersson (no relation) / Tommy Svensson Manta shell,

and put it on this chassis?

Ladies and Gentlemen, It appears we have Europes first Nostalgia Funny Car. Is it coming to run in the series next year?

If it was a blown one rather than Nitrous I'd say the driver would have to be Priapus (or at least have the balls to go with it)...

For those of you who do not know Priapus, you have the WWW at your fingertips!

Dont they have similar devices to that fitted to BMW's in Johannesburg to deter car-jacking?

Great Photoshopping though, keep 'em coming

Audi TT would make a nice funny car or Pro Mod.

What about a Lexus pro stock a bit like Justin Humpreys ran in Sport Compact.

Ive wanted to see a TT pro mod ever since they were launched, think the updated model would look even better.

Look at the rendering though, for the engine to sit behind the front axle centreline, it'd have to sit that far back it'd almost be level with the centre of the door, especially a monster 760ci or larger lump that's now the norm. And look at the rear wings, where's the room for the wheeltubs?? As nice as the idea is, the reality is that they're just too small and the stretching and massaging required to make everything fit would result in a very un-TT like race car.

A big problem with starting from scratch with European bodystyles is finding one with enough room to package everything in, and still look like the original car at the end, something we've spent a lot of time analysing. Even in Pro Stock where the dimensions are supposed to be *cough* standard, those things are changed beyone belief. Anyone ever seen a stock Cobalt or Cavalier in the flesh? A far cry from what is on the race track!
