I'm a bit disturbed to see on their webpage "It is all-out ULTIMATE DRAG RACING with VIRTUALLY NO RULES where almost anything goes"

Hardly going to be street legal then it would seem.

it's a make your way over deal.Flights are only 6 hrs from Gatwick to Halifax,Nova Scotia.
There rules are a bit lax but we're taking advantage of it by putting big ET streets, gears, wheelie bars, race fuel etc....biggrin
The catch is you have to do a 20 mile cruise and come straight back into the fire up road to do 3 back to back passes with out touching the car, except for fuel and nitrous bottle.
Count on a low 7 picking up the trophy......
I have no input with any of it hence the "race car" rules....Unfortunately that's the way they look at "street" cars over there...

You can't have everything Tet... Fact is their govt officials actually want to help us get there,in contrast to the last ones who wanted to make it very difficult, and take our money at every opportunity...frown

Whilst your attention is firmly got, Andy, a load of yanks on a mainly American forum I visit a lot, www.turbobricks.com, are whining that your car isn't the fastest street car at all and there are much faster, 6 second street cars all over America. laugh Care to register and put forward your point of view? It's always fun arguing with yanks!

got a link to the said articles? To be honest there's no point going on and arguing with yanks. They firmly believe that running slicks, race fuel and wheelie bars on a car that was street legal at some point in it's life is perfectly acceptable.rolleyes
Just ask them if they know of a faster car that races and drives on the street on pump gas.If they say yes then ask them to show you. That'll stump em...biggrin
If not i'll pop over and explain...thumbup

A quote or two from this discussion on my other forum (from various peeps)

I am sick about hearing of RedVictor1. There are TONS of cars all over the US that are "Street Legal" and faster than this. Mike Moran ran low 6s at 230 something with his street car. Calling MT Drag Radials street tires is retarded and a good way to create a record for yourself because your **** isn't fast enough to compete with the big dogs. There are also tons of guys in every little town across the US that make fast cars and don't toot their own horn. At my local drag strip, at least 3 or 4 mid 7 second cars show up, fully streetable. These guys aren't in the mags, they aren't on TV. One thing they are, is faster than RedVictor1.

My neighbors have street legal cars that would spank the red victor up and down that drag strip.

It's undisputed because everyone knows it's a crock of poo....

(some Youtube of a Supra or something)

...Just off the top of my head, the Titan boys have blown that out of the water. 6.4 @ 220.

yes, they are fully american street legal......rofl
nice comment about running little 315 drag radials,as opposed to what?
and again none of those cars run pump gas or run the same trim as they do on the street.
Mike Moran,6's at 230mph with a pro mod on slicks and methanol? just because he put lights on it doesn't mean it's remotely a street car,yet this is what they constantly blab on about...
If it doesn't come from America,it isn't fast....rolleyes
Like i said before no-one has come forward with a car that runs the same at the street and track that is faster, and that's from around the world, not just north america...
Believe me,i have a great laugh at all of the rubbish that is written about the car...biggrin

I know, I find it laughable. That's why I thought you'd have a bit of fun with them.

But they're American college kids, so surely they're right?

Is there actually a current official world record or championship?

I posted pics from the Orlando meet and pointed out the bald tyres, tongue out the lack of windscreen wipers, the tiny radiators, the lack of ground clearance, etc.

It's all gone quiet over there.

turbobricks.com

It's a site dedicated to turbo Volvos, in case you hadn't guessed. Unfortunately, the Off Topic bit of the site is members only, but it's free to register. The thread in question is now on the second page. It's usually an excellent and very intelligent forum, but sometimes the yank IQs shine through!

I have been reading the Turboricks forum, it's a very sad and petty thread that one quoted above.
Regards the British entrys going to Canada - how many are making the trip and who?
I would like to see this event myself.
The Street Eliminator series should also have rounds at the Main event and Euro finals - it is what the paying public want to see - Does Mr Bartlett read this?

believe me,there are 100's of sites around the world that have talked about redvictor1 and it's pretty much only american ones say "my mom could beat that".....Of course it's not all,but it seems to be prevelant there more than anywhere else.
All the details are on the link on the OP's post.More will become available soon.
Cars confirmed from the UK so far are Ian Jackson,Jason Weir and me,although there are others that have shown interest apparently.
As for S/E being at the "big" meets,it's been discussed with SP.To be fair there are more classes than they can cope with and putting another 20 trucks/trailers/cars etc isn't going to happen, particularly as they haven't got enough room as it is! I don't think there's a question of us entertaining the crowd,it's just a logistics thing. You could also have a good case(for the same reason) for super street bike, super mod etc,but in the end if you can't get the teams in the pits it's a no go.I for one would love to be there as part of the class, but i accept(and know)it's an impossible situation at the moment.
Besides, people come to watch the "pro" classes first, then watch what is there second.Look at the crowd difference between the Euro finals and the Summer nats......
I'm biased(obviously)to our type of cars but i know what gets the public in the gate, and it's not us.....

Andy - No doubt the Pro-classes at the main event etc such as TFD,TMD,funny cars and Pro-mod,pro-stock are the crowd favourites but next in line should be Street eliminator in my opinion, I know the thought of a lesser class having to drop out is always a hard topic to discuss but some of the lower ET classes running 15-20 second as good as they are for getting new blood into the sport totally clear the grandstands after the Pro sessions end.
Sorry if the above upsets a few of you, but with me -it's time to go get that coffee!
