For some reason the Metro has decided to cover NHRA action:

Or maybe they just happened across a dramatic picture and ran the story to fill space. Still, if they are willing to cover this action then maybe there is potential for some coverage of the domestic and European action next year?

In my opinion, the problem with drag racing is that it needs a lot of production back up to become interesting as a televised sport to anything other than an already commited/converted fan.

We all know how incredible a spectacle the sport can be in reality but television just never seems to show it as it is. TF, for example. As soon as they hit the throttle the microphones go into meltdown and you can't hear what they sound like.

It needs a really good build up and program surrounding it to gain the public's interest.

I don't know too much about high definition television but has it been thought about.... say filiming in HD? What quality would be improved upon?

I'm guessing the persons speakers would have to be able to uphold the quality. But do HD televisions provide excllent sound quality as well as picture quality?

As far as I know the only difference is in the number of horizontal lines that make up the picture. The problem lies with the recording equipment trying to cope with the 140ish (guessing) decibels of a Top Fuel car.

Dont really post on here, but had to laugh/cringe.... Was reading the magazine "Nuts" yesterday and saw the article (the Mike Strasburg?! fire) Aparently it takes a top fuel dragster 20 seconds to do 300mph, and the record is 8.8 over the 1/4 mile! rolleyeslaugh
