The trail is still alive, the usual cars are getting ready for the season this year looks set to see Gordy Smith back with shockwave ,John and Bob with showtime, leif Helander with starkotter,Gary Page in Kenneth Lorentzsons mongoose exhausts/pennzoil car,Patrick Pers in Knuts new Tre kronor car and hopefully Paul Knight in the new Mark Hawkins/Paul knight car purchased from Terry Haddock earlier this year. There is ofcourse Nobbys Houndog maybe?that car has been rumoured to be out for about the last four or so years and would be a welcome edition as its a very pretty car as all Nobbys cars have been. With the nhra chassis fiasco/saga/crissis in full affect i think that many of the teams are busy making chassis updates etc to meet the rules that are in place for the tme being.so we should get 6 this year

i suppose it needs a 6+ field on a regular basis to ever get FIA status but its just not right that the "other" nitro class isnt at the forefront

I think 6 is not realistic. I say this now so people don't say they were "Let down" again by the FC's, like they have on prior forums. As of today this is what I know....

Gary will be driving Kenneths car. Dave and Gordon are getting the Shockwave car ready. John and my guys will have the Showtime car ready. The Hawkins/Knight car is still in the U.S. as a rolling chassis and body only. In fact the body is in line to have work done in Southern Cal. The Nobby car I don't see happening anytime soon, specially with the rules the way they are now. Leif technically retired last year, although with some cash he did say he would return. Knuts Tre Kronner I don't know anything about as Patrik has his own car now and he is very fired up. Tomas does not own the old Showtime Mustang although I know he wants to drive a FC. So to re-cap I think 3 and a half cars are for certain..... Bob

The bits and pieces of info that i picked up are from eurodragster reports and the such like the mark hawkins story a few weeks ago titled "enter Knighthawk" the part about knuts new tre kronor car came from a recent eurodragster story in which he says that he has a new stratus body to go on patricks car and that they are going to paint it in the tre kronor colours.Confusingly tho,a few days before that Patrick put on a photo of two force bodies that he got? Its always a pleasure to have the fuel fcs at the track and i always miss them when not around, however good or bad they run on any given day is not an issue with me,its just a joy to watch them come out. When the big runs happen then nothing else compares to it!Amen!!!

While we don't pretend to be ready to mix it with the others at the Easter Thunderball, the NH Racing Houndog Funny car achieved a big step forward recently with the granting of an SFI tag for the legality of the chassis. Full details can be seen on the NH Racing website (www.nhracing.com)

It is no secret that we are seeking funding to get the "show on the road", this is well known and has been widely communicated, and nobody is more frustrated than Nobby and those involved with the team that we launched the car some time ago and the car has yet to turn a wheel in anger. It is not for the lack of trying. We have and continue to explore numerous avenues to get the necessary financial backing. If it was easy, everyone would be able to do it ! There are dozens of ex-fuel teams and drivers in the same position.

As and when finances become available we do make the small but significant steps forward. We are also doing this in the public eye in so much as we have a widely read website and are communicating our developments to all and any who show an interest.

We appreciate the ongoing enthusiasm and support for us from many quarters and wish all the best to the other Funny Car teams out there. We know this is not an easy task to build and run a Fuel car and it is easy to hide behind a keyboard to pontificate and criticise those that have never actually got out there and put their money where their mouth is.

Thanks again for your support

i too thought ED had snippets about a AAFC revival, has there been any updates?

whilst drag racing has (and must have) its sportsman "roots" and all the classes and runners from street to fuel, dammit we need AAFC, drag racing without it is like spag bog with no bog, or a ruby with no naan bread, stockings with no suspenders..........no, forget that one

you know what i mean....

We have had various pieces over the off-season. Most of which everyone evidently spotted apart from the bit about Helander quitting after the FIA European Finals last year. But as Bob said, if the money's right...

As it happens we have a piece about Fuel FCs for today, came in early this morning, update at lunchtime. Stay tuned. In the meantime you might like to browse our new FAQs section, as ever the link is on the left-hand side of any page - it's the last link, was previously About Eurodragster.com.
