Observed Runs..

Hello guys.....

Basicly what i need to know is, is there someone you need to tell, that your going to be doing observed runs at a meet..

Reason i ask is, i am hoping to do mine on the friday of the thunderball, but on the entry list there is no 'O' next to my name.

Also, what do you do for observed runs these days? can't remember doing mine in juniors.

Hello Pete!

Basically the man you need to speak to is Darren Prentice. If he is not the race Director of the meeting then i guess he will point you in the right direction. I say this as no person on this forum will tell you what he wants to see from you Pete. Call him beforehand maybe to put you at ease.

You will need to probably conduct at least (maybe more - depends) three runs i am guessing.

A launch
A half pass (not a maltese half pass )
A full pass.

Oh and probably a parachute practice.

If you didn't tell Paula Marshall when you entered that you're on observed runs then that's why you don't have an O next to your name on the list. If you did tell Paula then just have a quick word.

At the track you have to present yourself to Darren Prentice.

Re which runs you have to do for a licence, allow me to introduce you to the UK rule book. Rather more reliable and authoritative than a discussion forum for the proper answer to such questions although Kirstie is correct

I had to do one of those when I first got my licence in Grumpy's Dodge. I'd been told to keep on the power until the 'chute deployed, to ensure it opened properly. I went through the top end, pulled the lever, and... nothing. I pulled again, still nothing. I pulled a third time, hard enough that the lever bent, but still no 'chute. By that time, the end of the track was rapidly approaching, so I just had to stop on the brakes. It turned out that because it's not normally used, the 'chute release cable had siezed solid. Ho hum :-)

...which hasn't yet been released. Or at least, I just have the customary not saying it will be posted out when it becomes available. But that said, it's a fair bet that 2007's licensing rules will still apply.
