Andy Carter and the drag boat story! We were waiting for certain people to take the bait.

I am not going to comment any further however. whistle

I wish i could enter, but that would be cheating.

My personal favourites:

1. The Y2K bug in the throttle stop (http://www.eurodragster.com/news/2000aprilfool.htm ). Not sure we will ever beat that one.

2. "Nitro FM to broadcast music and adverts during the week" in 2004 which resulted in an earnest and in places downright pompous discussion about broadcast licences on PH's predecessor whilst the Eurodragster.com staff pee'd themselves laughing.

3. Every single story on the 2005 update being an April Fool, but everyone thinking that they had spotted the decoy story and taking the others seriously (http://www.eurodragster.com/news/2005aprilfool.asp ).

4. The Andy Carter Drag Boat story last year which was specifically designed to, and came -> <- that close to, appearing in a national publication - if it had, then my work here will have been done (http://www.eurodragster.com/news/news0407.asp?story=april01#april01 ).

5. The Home Page picture library replaced by the finest from Sharkman's School of Excellence. It worried me slightly that no-one noticed or at least commented on that one on the day.

I jump straight to news/news.asp as I tend to read using my mobile on the bus to work each morning. It was gret keeping up with the event coverage without having to turn my laptop on at Easter, even if it was mostly snow.

I think 2005 was a good year as it certainly caught me, though I was convinced that last years April Fool was Peter Beck taking up circuit racing.

Oh don't, you'll start one or the other of them off again and I am too unwell to countenance the E-Mail which would invariably follow if I dared defend myself in public biggrin

There already is one, but I'll let you work out where smile

Creche facility at FIA events (to be hosted/managed by tog+kirstie)

Given what Miss Corrado does as a day job (see Eurodragster.com News of 2nd February) that's pretty good smile I'd have to excuse myself though, wouldn't do to be amongst all those kids taller than me smile

Oh i don't know. Sometimes it feels like I leave one day job and into a rather more similar one at the weekends. The difference being the age.

...and the answer to Derek's original question is that none of today's stories was an April Fool.

Well, there was an April Fool of sorts: we quite liked the idea of people wasting time wondering or discussing which story was the false one smile

OK not our best April Fool but quality over quantity.

Don't you just hate starting a thread and then find out you are the fool, teach me to release something before ED..... I read the snake pit item and how the trailer had been done up and thought the picture was a bloody big trailer, so that had to be it banghead

So Time Machine next time you see me in the pits come grab a Gold RV Racing T shirt

@Tog : I was thinking about the "Truck Race Event" at York ,
or are there really "Pick-Ups from the american Super Stock Racing Series" in GB ?
And that old record by "Karl Nowdtarski" was beaten by the maltese guys surely ?
O/T : We had a good one going around in the german dragracing forum,
about a "Dacia Logan Quartermile Cup".....or was that a "Quarterlime Cup"..scratchchin
Cheers,
Benni

P.S.:
There are -not fooling you- some really strange projects going on in germany,
the weirdest is a guy stuffing a BMW 5L V12 in a..................Seat Marbella....yikes,
although this is planned only to run at "Tuning Events" or RWYBs.

Are you still planning to licence at the Big Bang?

It could have been 2052, not 2051, people read the Blog last week then biggrin

I was tempted to go to the Big Bang as I am partial to a VW but seeing Derek state he was planning to licence will be a massive bonus!

I was just checking he was still attending.

Yes the plan is to go to the Big Bang (thanks to Brian Burrows for allowing us)and get as many runs as possible towards the licence, need to do 2 runs 5.40 or quicker eekone in excess of 260 MPH ! After the observed launch and half pass of course !!
