Arvil Porter who built some of the quickest hydrogen peroxide rocket dragster engines is reported to have passed away last Sunday.

well blow me, he actually built "Ragnarok" AAFC way back, in just two weeks!

In 1976 Arvil and a friend, Tommy "TC" Lemons, (long time crew chief for "Big Daddy" Don Garlits), were hired to go to Sweden and build a Funny Car in less than two weeks!

The two did just exactly that and still had time to have their picture taken in front of the oldest telephone in Sweden (lower left corner).

The Funny Car was built for "Hoszey Frome", a direct descendent of the Norwegian Vikings. The car had to be special made because he was almost 7 feet tall!

It's the same guy. Thanks I had not seen some of that.If you look here it say's what a good engineer he was. http://www.legacy.com/pensacolanewsjournal/Obituar... He was one of, if not the last persons who would and could build Hydrogen peroxide rocket engines.
