You could start with the web site link in the news item, it's in German but you can work out a lot of the basics.

Come on, who's going to win my £5 bet for me...

About time too. It's an amazing venue, and in the last couple of years, Lex and others have shown that the track problems are a thing of the past. It's good to see it back on the calendar, and I hope it's a successful meeting for all involved.

Adam, I stayed in a hotel in Hockenheim itself, which was fairly cheap, and pretty close to the track. Can't remember where it was, but I found it by looking around on the net. Grandstands tend to be expensive, but it's worth paying a bit extra, as some of the cheaper seats have limited visibility due to a chainlink fence being in the way.

Definitely worth going, one of the best atmosphere's you'll find at a drag racing event. The Saturday night show with 50,000 or so packing the stands is amazing, when we had the whole stand chanting "Freddy Freddy Freddy" when he pulled a 1000ft burnout in the truck was awesome.

When I raced the junior there it was kind of along the lines of, ask and we'll invite you. Not sure if things have changed now (this was 2001 and 2002) with Rico not being promoter anymore.

Achtung fahrerlager!
Vorsprung durch Technik
Errr... don't mention the war?

I seem to have exhausted my (very short) list of Hockenheim related things that might win you the bet :-)

Well, I would like to point out that I heard about Tog's £5 bet several weeks ago, long before an official announcement was made, and I feel very smug and pumped up about my own importance as a result.

Hi HockenHeads !

My thread has arrived ? Ok, I will try to answer your questions,
but even though I am announcing there, I am no member of the orga crew.
Regarding tickets, try the www.dragster.de page
and check out the seat and pricing list.
When you click the "tickets" button, you can see the grandstand plan,
and if you click the little "eyes" icons there,
a pic of the view from these seats is shown.
The "VIP" and "Fahrerlager" seats on the left side are closest to the strip,
but a little more expensive because these are only erected for the weekend,
and you get some "extras" like closer car parking space (FL seats),
or a "posh" "VIP" area with food & drinks, meets & greets, etc etc.
I would take the FL tickets for the parking.
Also worth checking out are the "tower seats"
in the top level of the "stadium area" around the (pre)startline .
From there, you can see the whole track from behind,
and the pairing/fire-up lanes
not unlike the barn, but with 12-floors-height and seats...........biggrin
All seats are numbered, so if you go to the pits and come back,
you still have your place.
The lower rows of the "arena" are reserved for "crew tickets",
which the registered teams can also order in advance.
These are a little cheaper, but behind the FIA F1 fence mentioned some posts above.
Both the dragster.de page and the www.nitrolympics.de page (for racers) will be updated soon.

Regarding hotels, try www.hrs.de , I have to find something there too,
because for the first time since 1986, I will not sleep in the pits.
(Sold my old VW camper)

Oh, and if you want to have true "fan" atmosphere, go camping,
there are campgrounds in the woods surrounding the track,
but expect long and noisy nights...beermusicdrunksillyvomit

I knew about the FIA negotiations for some weeks,
and I am glad that they ended successfully.....biggrin
Now I hope for big entry lists, good weather and new track records.

Cheers,
Benni

Oh, the "Achtung Fahrerlager" is CULT speak,
although correctly it has to be "Achtung Fahrerslager" ,
because these were the words that "Big Daddy" Jery Lackey used,
when he made the calls in the early days of german Drag Racing at US Air Bases.

I have no clue about the Togmeisters bet....confused ,
but maybe he will come this year ?

Yep, some great views from up there, although very costly from what I recall. Here's a photo I took to give you some idea:

Ahhh. All I remember is hearing it constantly over the tannoy throughout the meeting :-) From memory, it was usually a female voice... Andrea maybe?

Hi Tog & NitroHeads !

I still don´t quite know what I did,
but as long as it keeps you fed, I think I did good.
Mr. A is still am member of the oldest german drag race club.
and on the last meeting of the "Hanau Auto Racing Association"
he announced his plans, but asked for silence as long as it was not confirmed.
And, contrary to popular beliefs, I can keep my mouth (and keyboard) shut...tongue out
Now to another question : What is the "Speed Group" ?

I will not be at the ME due to anouncing duties at Bitburg Airbase,
and wish you all a successful weekend.

Cheers,
Benni

Any member wavey of ED staff is welcome at Hockenheim,
there is always a place -and a cold ice-tea- in my tin box...

Well, what happens is that every time we break a big enough story on Eurodragster.com there is always someone who goes on a forum somewhere or E-Mails me and says "I heard something about this some time ago". I don't know what they want, a receipt or something biggrin

Still chuckling over JonC's perceptive pee-take too smile
