Whats the fastest that is possible on "normal" tyres?
Discussion
when i used to race street cars i bought a cheap pair of rear wheels for my car and had them wrapped in normal racing slick's so i drove to the track changed the rear wheels and off i went i used to use part warn touring car tyres which cost me about 25 quid each. i would inflate them to around 10/14 psi and would knock almost a second of my street tyres time. theres no point in tuning your motor for more power if you cant transfer it to the black stuff. with a name like brummie i would expect you aint far from me if you need any help getting tyres give me a shout
Check the tyres speed rating.
The best you can get is (Y) which equates to >186mph.

I don't know the answer but if you're going to another RWYB day please let me know, would love to see your car in action and I'm keen to run the V8S again with it's new engine. maybe get a little TVR posse down the Pod ?
Sure, i will be going again this year, so Pod or Shakie raceway, like you say would be good to get a few TVR's there too.Brummie,
What you are asking has nothing to do with the speed rating on the tyre but more to do with how much grip and traction you can get out of the tyre that fits on your car.
In the USA, they have classes of racing for cars with 10.5" wide rear tyres, the idea being that this is about as big as you can fit under a stock Mustang / Camaro / typical Musclecar without having to tub the rear arches out, thus saving on build costs.
10.5" = 266.7mm wide, so about the same as your TVRs rear tyres.
It is possible to run unbelievable times on tyres that wide. I won't try to tell you what the world record is by the time you read this it will probably have changed again, but suffice to say people have run in the 6.6 second range at over 220mph with tyres only 10.5" wide.
In a Cerbera, your limitations are the differential, and getting the required weight transfer to dig the tyres into the tarmac.
Still by simply bolting on a set of drag radials, such as the Mickey Thompson ET Street, BFGoodrich Drag Radial or Nitto 555R you should be able to pick up around half a second if not more when compared to your current tyres. You'll need more mods to get serious with it, but anything is possible with some work!

Sounds like your car would be a perfect fit for the UK Street racer series, http://www.uk-srs.co.uk it's cheap and loads more track time and less queuing than at a RWYB. There are also prizes! You might give my standard Z06 a run for it's money too, sounds like your personal best is very close to mine (a tad ahead in fact)
