i was at TOTB yesterday at Elvington, council enforced noise limits created more work for some teams, i watched x3 on the trot get turned away and told to make their cars quieter, guy on the DB meter was about 1/2 a metre away, a little hap-hazzard pointing straight at the exhaust on one car, at an angle on another, with another guy watching the revs

more noise restrictions meant this year they couldnt even start till 10.30am, a 1km run instead of a 1 mile, a 45min stop for lunch, and a 3.30 finish (for qualifying)

i guessing after all the recent court hassles, noise levels will be strictly enforced !

Yeah I know I was there ( mid engined polo ) and failed the noise test twice at 104 db the third time I got tested I was at 102 db , quite suprising as I had done nothing different to the car.

Enjoyed the day very muchbut I feel TOTB might of had its day now especially if next year the limit will be 99 db.

I managed 11.7 with only 1.3 bar boost limit and 7000 rpm limit as I was running in a new engine so quite pleased with that.

I was there and I dont know how such strickt limits have come about. They are far to restrictive it is though the restriction are done to make it a pointless exercise. Most of the cars where turbos so were quite anyway. If someone had started a V8 Mopar up the place would have been closed down.irked

Try asking the residents, council, and the Judge presiding over the legal action Against Elvington.

Unfortunately, thats why the noise restrictions are in place. Its not like any normal, sensible people want them !!!

Part of the nose problems, are due to F1 teams testing there........they are noisy !!!!

The guys are just there to enforce rules laid down by others. If the rule makers dont take into consideration anti-lag etc.....then dont highlight it to them lol

Generally speaking, I thought it was a relatively quiet day. Although AFAIK, there wasnt a single noise complaint about last years TOTB either. This years will be interesting.
I dont see how any right thinking person could complain.
