So i get to the pod wednesday night, i endure 4 nights of rain mud and no racing.
I see two fuellers get out of it at about 100 ft than it starts to rain, i then decide to follow the advice on the internet, having previously ignored it the entire weekend and i went home only to find that racing had been going on today.
Im sooooooooo annoyed right now.

So do I but the Race Director and the Promoter made the right call. The majority of the spectators went to see the Pro Racers and that is what they got to see. Without calling any judgement over rain-off values, the promoter has safe guarded his business by running what the majority went to see. I do hope some gesture is made to the Sportsman Racers who entered this event... Phil, you have to look at the whole picture. I spoke with a Super Pro racer on Friday who thought that this scenario may arise and that is why a lot of them packed up early.

Refunds was the word on a lot of peoples lips.
when i raced here with o/a. I remember getting cut a few times never got a penny back. Not complaining,(Yes i am) but a apoligy would have been nice. Anywho consensus seems to be that entry fees get swollowed by track costs. Doctors,insurance etc. still grates though. Can i say well done to all who worked so hard to make something happen. Also thanks To Lee Cohen S/P 666 for the chance to crew this weekend. shame he never got to turn a wheel(except for the nude model photo shoot) Bet thats got your attention.

I feel for all the racers who put so much into this and all for nothing, im just a tad annoyed with myself for sticking it out for 4 days and then leaving early, lesson for the future is go home the first day or stick it out till the end.

Couldn't they at least take the payouts they didn't have to pay, total them up, then divide by the number of entrants for refunds? I can't say enough good things about them.....
Well said Andy, they worked harder and had less sleep than anyone else on site I should think. Even in a heavy rain shower they never lost heart and continued to sweep the track and even empty puddles in the pits.We just sat in the rain.They worked in it... There wouldn't have even been pro racing if it wasn't for those guys and gals..

nobody disputes the track crews worked their nuts off. It's a situation nobody can help. We couldn't run without them, they are a valued part of the sport. The decision by Darren was the right one. Pro teams incur costs like anybody else and for the sake of the venue, spectators and sport, it was right that Pro classes took preferance.
What I struggle with is where the racers entry goes to. Take away the £40 power per team and theres £22000 in entry fee's. Given the Easter Thunderball, Main Event and now the Euros were weather affected, I think it's right that racers question and be told where their money has been absorbed this season.
Whether Pro cars should run at the National Finals, I don't personally think so. It's the Final round to many class championships and in a 2 day meeting like that there isn't the time to run Pro testing, exhibition and other demos. Santa Pod can't be all things to all people, I think the sportsman racers should be given the opportunity to contest their last championship round, in the same way the Pro classes took preferance at this event.

You have to keep the spectators sweet though first and foremost, the last thing they want to see after 3 days of racing would be the junior dragsters coming out.
The weather would have drastically reduced the gate entry and people still need to be paid, and prepping the track isnt cheap and whether there is racing or not everything still needs to be paid for. Without the spectators the track cant operate whilst its hard for racers the track owners cant afford to take onboard the extra costs involved if the weather is bad. Its a bad situation all round
The main reason i gave up racing was that meetings were being forced further and further away from the summer months and with two ACU rounds still to come this month that is perfectly demonstrated, i guess we have the success of the "lifestyle" events like Jap show to thank for that.
