Looking round the fantastic Superbird at the weekend, cant work out what the small device on the back of the diff is for.....

Looks like it has an inclinometer type rod on it as well as an oil line ?

Any ideas ?

Would appear to me to be a datalogging device. Maybe the braided line contains wiring? that's certainly something I've considered doing in my engine bay.

Two seperate items, the blue anodised device attached to the diff housing is a pump to circulate the oil around, it helps keep temps down and more importantly; wear.

The other part is indeed a sensor for the datalogger, it measures the level of compression on the rear suspension.

A closer view of the pump; http://www.markwilliams.com/detail.aspx?ID=1223

Here's a better pic of the axle too, a work of art in itself I think! Not overly budget friendly though unfortunately. http://markwilliams.com/detail.aspx?ID=1201

Might be worth asking badbird for some more info... seeing as he joined today...

(not, of course, displacing Lee's fine response!)

Yeah I'm sure Graham will check out this thread at some stage, there's not a lot more to tell though to be honest.
