Fastest 4 cylinder doorslammers?
Discussion
I think I've found Europe's fastest- Krister Adeen's 850:

Or maybe Pär Eriksson's C70:

Coming third is probably the infamous Hunchback:

Then there's Mathias Stenström's 480:

What do they have in common? They're all powered by a Volvo 940 16v engine!
I also know of a 6 second 240 in Peurto Rico, but can only find pics of it- no videos.
Whilst I'm using the same engine I'll be happy just to have it running. 11's would be good!
Are there many other notable 4 cylinder doorslammers out there?

ETA - Dont some of the malta boys run very quick four pots ?
I don't know, to be honest- that was why I was asking. My knowledge of redblock powered Volvos is...err...extensive. My knowledge of drag racing as whole less so.ETA - Dont some of the malta boys run very quick four pots ?

I never said they were three ton monsters, Andy! I think my point (and the reason I love these engines so much) is to look at what they came out of! Some of those engines are still running a full cooling system too- I know the Hunchback is at 2.1 litres and 1017hp.
To give you an idea, I posted a thread on my favourite Volvo forum asking if anyone had worked out part numbers for an ARP stud kit for the mains (seems every other bolt inside the engine is now ARP). The answer came back quite predictably: "Why? Have you ever heard of the stock stuff failing?"

Volvo cars have always been known to be over engineered.I'm not surprised that those cars run stock(ish) blocks. To give you an idea, I posted a thread on my favourite Volvo forum asking if anyone had worked out part numbers for an ARP stud kit for the mains (seems every other bolt inside the engine is now ARP). Fair play to them but they are very light, and that makes it so much easier to go fast, and not break stuff...
True.
I'll not have the same advantage as mine will also be a budget street car (in the vaguest sense of "street"). Still, I'm having discussions with a guy in the States at the moment who's happy to weld and regrind the stock cams as opposed to just buying new blanks. This halves the prices.
To put it into perspective (and have everyone on here screaming "what's he moaning about?") a pair of performance cams to your spec is around £600. You need these to get beyond around 550hp.
The problem with the cam grinding idea is that for that you need to know the cams specs you require.
This has been a topic of discussion on another forum but as usual has got nowhere.
So- anyone want to share their knowledge of EBR?

Well basically, take a massively over engineered cylinder head and port it slightly. Add to that decent internals to get you a 8-9k redline. Use the sort of cams you'd expect in a high hp, high revving N/A engine. Add a HUGE turbo. Spend several days on the dyno at typically 45psi of boost.Sounds easy? It would be if those in the know would let it be known what type of cams they're using. One guy has told me, but I'm still trying to coax the info out of some others.
