i seem to remember Robin Read putting in a qualifying shot in the rain at the euro finals back in the late 80's or early 90's. Nowhere as full on an attempt at a run like the one in that video though

That's nice dear. It's pretty clear that this is not a professional drag race but just a demo at some other event. They're not trying to run the numbers, they are just trying to entertain the crowd, and I think they did a reasonable job with the odds stacked against them!
