A Santa Pod Virgin, that is!!

I've been threatening to get down to the Pod and watch some "proper" motorsport for far too long, so this year have gone for it and bought weekend tickets for the Easter Thunderball
I was wondering if any of you guys could fill me in on what to expect?

What are the camping facilities like?
What are the general facilities like?
Whats the general vibe? Have you had good/bad experiences?

Cheers

That depends on entirely what you are expecting. If you are expecting a 5* hotel, you WILL be disappointed. If you are happy to rough it in a tent in a field, then you will be ok. Having said that, it does depend vastly on the weather conditions how rough it can get! The European Finals last year (unsuprisingly my last in a tent) was particularly bad.

Vastly improved in the last few years. The toilet maintenance especially. Showers are available on the pit side of the track, but the toilets on the camping side will suffice if you are happy with a bit of water and soap in the 'pits, a shave and de-furring of the teeth!

There are food stands, as well as merchandise and the Pod Shop who sell some of the essentials you may need, but be prepared to pay through the nose. Always best to plan ahead and buy stuff before you go.

Atmospehere is one thing you never have to worry about a Santa Pod. Everyone is very friendly, especially people in the camping field. Being able to walk freely around the pits is a treat that is not offered by many of the 'other' motorsports (F1, BTCC etc). You are able to get closer to the cars in the evenings, when the crews have finished working on the cars, and most will stand and chat with you about the car etc.

The best atmosphere whilst the racing is on is to be found on the banking, especially at the bigger events. That said, the grandstand is good as well, but bring a cushion as bum numbness will set in quite quickly!

You will love it, that's guaranteed. But be prepared to get the 'bug', you will want to come back!

HTH and enjoy yourself. I will be there!
