205 GTi 1.9 8v compared to mi16/GTi-6 etc?
Discussion
Ok, i have a 1991 miami blue 205 GTi 1.9 8v. Now i know it isnt built for the quarter mile runs but i love it too much to take to the track (have a corsa for that) but was just at crail this weekend and got a 15.622. this is with an engine i had dyno'd at 152.5 bhp and 132lb-ft (at ecosse). The car is original aprt from engine and suspension so still has all the interior etc. I previously ran a 16.1 with the engine at 128.5 bhp last year (all times include a passenger).
Was just wondering how these compare to others and mi16/GTi-6's etc.
I am currently interested in a 2.0 turbo converted 205 too so any times of thses would be helpfull too

Put an mi16 lump in. I did one, wont regret it, they fly. I got rid of it in the end as I am quite sure I would of got killed in it, I HAD to drive it flat out and its not a good thing. Get to 4000 in one of them and they take off, lovely engine. Was just wondering how these compare to others and mi16/GTi-6's etc.

Need to work on the driving a little i think mate.
You should be running at least flat 15's at crail with that power.
About 4years ago my completely standard 133bhp starlet was running those times. With a few tweaks it was running 155bhp and 14.7's. And with a complete overhaul it was running 211bhp and 13.99s.

its seems reasonably comparitive to the redtop corsa etc though, plus the starlet should have a bit more torque, and its not a high revving engine so gear changes come quickly even with the 1.9 box. On one of the other forums its also quicker than a 170bhp clio 16v phase 1.
You also need to realise that when new the 0-60 was 7.9 and when balance motorsport did their 205 track car:
http://www.balancemotorsport.co.uk/main.asp?catego...
with a dyno proven 121 bhp and stripped down to 810 kg it managed a 15.9 second time. Which put its power to weight in at 149per tonne, considering mine still has full interior and power steering, electric windows etc it will be a fair bit heavier.
Also if you compare a 205 to a 106 the 106 will easily beat them in a quick drag race. 0-60 in 7.6 standard with 120 bhp compared to the 7.9 of the 205 with 128 bhp.

Also been searching around and the Starlet has standard times of 7.3 to 60 and passes the quarter at 15.6, compared to as i said the 7.9 of the 205 and 16.2 quarterYou should be running at least flat 15's at crail with that power.
