Mantorp ticket prices and where to watch
Discussion
Does anybody roughly know the ticket prices for 4 days at Mantorp ive been on the website but my swedish isnt the best to be honest. I think its roughly £20 a day. If anybody has attended in the past do they offer a special rate for 4 days?. Is it free entry into the pits? and which side of the track is the best for viewing?
Give Mantorp a call for ticket enquiries - their English is very good.
Entry to the pits is free. Take comfortable walking shoes, though, because the pits are very spread out. When you are in the pits take a moment to stop at the head of the pairing lanes and look from there down the strip. It's a great view and you can also get a good sense of the gradient.
Spectating, I am guessing that the right side is better. You can certainly go further down the track on the right side. Tricky one to call as I've not actually spectated at Mantorp; I'm always strapped in to my seat in Race Control which by the end of each day gets pretty much how I would imagine a men-only sauna to be...environmentally, anyway.
Take lots of sunblock as the sun is very strong in Sweden at this time of year.
Oh and even though you're not likely to understand much of it, listen out for Bjorn and Christer's commentary. These guys are so good that each knows what the other is going to say and they have this entertaining habit of delivering the end of sentences together. Christer and Bjorn both take the trouble to give salient points (such as qualifying) in English too.
You'll also hear the odd English phrase thrown in during the Swedish; it's something which seems to happen a lot in European languages, that when someone wants to be dramatic they'll say something in English. I remember the first time I heard it at Mantorp, it went: (in Swedish) yak yak yak yak yak yak SUPERTWIN, ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH yak yak yak yak yak. I love it.

Can't find this year's prices but I went in 2006 and 2008 for all four days both times. Prices were 500SEK & 600 SEK each year and the Thursday is ridiculously cheap when buying a four day ticket compared with a three day ticket (about £4 for the day if memory serves i.e. it was 550SEK in 2008 for three days). So the weekend ticket will cost approx £50 and I would definitely recommend going on the Thursday if only to "case the joint"...
The left hand side of the track has spectator stands to approx the eighth and some of these are open on the Thursday at no cost. The right hand side of the track has stands to slightly less than the eighth and then there is open land from which you can view from next to a fence. The view from here is not brilliant as the safety barrier obscures the view and fills up early, so you would need to get to the facility early each morning to mark your pitch. The maximum depth of spectator is about six persons and some jostling takes place when the bigger stuff runs. It is easier to access the Sportsman pits from this side.
I can only emphasise Tog's comments regarding the sun which is relentless and fierce!
Edited to add: Entry to the pits is free. Limited parking is available on site or just across from the facilty at a cafe/garage there is further parking at a cost of 50SEK per day (unless you park just up the road where it is free and the walk is not that much further). I would suggest you park on site on the Thursday and find out "what is what" ready for the rest of the weekend.

The main grandstand is on the left side of the track, but be aware although you may have purchased a seating ticket, it will not guarantee you a seat because the seats are not numbered and it is first come first served and not everybody sits shoulder to shoulder (if they did the grandstand would sit all the seating tickets sold).
Best bet is to buy a weekend general admission ticket, preferably on Thursday and take a good look around. Once you have decided where you would like to sit go to the offices (just ask) and buy your seating tickets from there. Seating plans are available.

Grandstands are 'kin expensive compared to santa pod, but cheap compared to f1!
About 200skr friday and 250, which is about 20 quid a day sat and sunday which makes a weekend seat more than entry.
BUT, and its a Lisa Riley sized BUT, its better than a NHRA national event in my opinion due to the fact youll see soooo much stuff youll never see anywhere else!
Thursday is the main day for sportsman racing and comp eliminator is alot better than the states which has blown cars, the odd turbo, and many many different and wicked combos you just dont see elsewhere.
Oh and im forgetting wheelstanding super stockers, over 30 pm etc.........
Enjoy it, as long as the weather behaves itl be the race weekend youve been dreaming of your whole life....
See ya there!
Cheers

Is it worth going for 4 days? people tell me the sportsman racing is real good and defo worth watching?
Yes, definitely. I am biased because I love Sportsman racing but you will see classes you don't see here in the UK, such as Stock/Superstock, and you will see Comp Eliminator in its natural habitat. The Swedes run this event as well as SPRC run theirs so the action will be non-stop.NIRO LEWY said:
Whats it like getting into and out of the track is access good?
Can't answer that as we arrive on Tuesday and don't leave the facility until Sunday night.Edit: added last year's event coverage link

I haven't had any problems. There can be queues at busy times, but it's no worse than Santa Pod at big meetings. Probably better, in fact. Arrive early enough to see the first runs of the day and you'll be fine.Anybody flying into Skavsta/Nykoping on the Wednesday (22nd) may be interested in staying in Nykoping for the night (the Ibis comes recommended) as there is a car rally down by the harbour. We went last year and it was excellent, with plenty of American tin on display. Free entry also.
