BTW: Comparing your Grumpy pic above to mine below - I can't work it out. I'm probably going to regret asking this, but we were stood next to each other when these pictures were taken, but why does my shot have no Nitro flames on this side of the car?

Anybody?

eh up rich!
Great to see ya at the weekend again matesmile
Yep all due to shutter speed....If you compare the two shots the background in yours is much clearer due to a faster shutter. Nitro flames are always more visible from both sides at anthing on or below 1/125th. I only know cos the amount of times i ballsed it up myself trying to get strong flames on both sides at night, until martin the german master told me how he did it and hey prestosmile
Then i quit takin photos, go figure smile

I didn't do that well on the header flame front, but in my defense, it was mostly new kit to me. Anyway, some of the better offerings from Saturday & Sunday...

(and a big thank you to Squire Rommers for lending me his lenses!)

Probably my favourite of the weekend, a bit of a lucky one though smile

Dopey goes sideways...

and one for Luke...this saw some rpm... wink

ETA: Photobucket has properly fudged up the resolution of every single one...ooops.

I looked on with horror as Adam peddaled Motor Psycho with any amount of fluid(s)spraying out over the track and have a vivid memory of the track guy frantically gesturing for him to cut the motor (which he ignored).

The question is, when he got hauled in front of the teacher, did he have an exercise book stuffed down the back of his pants? I was wincing at the prospect of the bo**oking he must have got.

The good thing was we had a leisurely lunch, sunbathing in the car park and did'nt miss a thing.

My apologies were made to Robin when I went to the tower to see him after getting back from the run.
Did I see the track official, no. I saw a flash out the corner of my eye an yes in hindsight I should have lifted earlier.

That said I don't like the manner of your post and the assumptions made.

I think it's called Flame Jealousy!

Thanks for the picture, Mark. It helped solve the question. See below

Now this is starting to ring a bell..... I saw it when header flames only appeared out of one
bank, years ago...

The mud is clearing... At the time, a figure of 1/1600 was specified as a shutter speed to avoid. I must have the memory of a gold fish!

And now to examine the technical data of the two original pictures:-

There you go. I do hate learning things twice!

(Though the picture was taken with manual focusing at the time... So I'm claiming that was the distraction that caused me to slip up!)

Thanks again.

Adam, I was just injecting some homour. It is the world I have lived in for the last 25 years, pi** taking and having a laugh on each other is the norm and keeps us all sane.

I look forward to seeing you out next year mate.

Tis the problem with forums, you don't always get the way things are projected. We'll be back and sorted next year.

Thanks Geoff, nothing major and no damage

Thanks for posting Jon, yeah went to 10,000rpm a few times. Motor was sweet though. It was caused by having 2 sprags go...none since we have been racing then 2 in one day.

I actually hated the weekend, didn't enjoy one minute of it.

Totally and utterly gutted we didn't get a proper pass in.

Hello all!

New here, glad to see what some other people are getting as I'm learning myself as I go along.

RE: Motorpsyscho, don't know if these will be any use to knowing what went on, you may already have it sussed, but as is always with these things, best to keep the shutter clicking when something ain't right...

Cheers for the pics Andy

As you can see in the photo the breather hose pushed off the valve cover on that side, spraying oil all over the place. Shows how much those motors breath, it is spraying out with some force.

It was fairly obvious what had happened when we got to the top end - I suspect the first Adam knew about it was a windscreen full of oil.

I really felt sorry For Darrens engine on that run, the poor little thing was revving its tits off and going nowhere fast!
