FIA Top Fuel 2010
Discussion
With all the European interest in NHRA and money continuing to be tight, does anyone think we will get full 8 car fields for top fuel next season?
I know there are a few cars out there that we have not seen this season, but it is worrying to contemplate 5 and 6 car fields. Outside the Mantorp round I could see this happening.

I would imagine for the Main Event, The Finals and defintely Mantorp we will see full fields, Alastaro always seem to have smaller fields. I would like to know how many cars people reckon we will see next year, especially at the Main Event and The Finals?. How many of the euro guys that raced in Vegas and Pomona are planning on doing the full euro series?

would be nice to see a couple of USA TF teams make the trip THIS way, but it wont happen cos there isnt the cash to tempt them.
As Tog says Its very early to be debating how many Top Fuel cars for next season, most teams are having a well earned break after a hard season before starting on thier plans for 2010. As for US teams i doubt they could fit in a trip to the UK and wont it be better to spend the money on helping the European teams ? and biuld on the success of the FIA seriesDWphil said:

but what happens if 2 or 3 Europeans decide they can race out there instead of here and are lost to the european tour? suddenley we have 5 car fields IF the rest can sustain it all....
Didn't we have this debate a few years ago when Knut first made noises about retiring and taking 4-5 cars out of the field? We seem to have coped rather well. Teams will always leave the top end of the sport for whatever reason. Human nature and the structure of the sport means there will always be teams aspiring to take their place. At least this way NHRA becomes interesting as well Bikermoore said:
I spoke to John Force back in March of this year at Jacksonville airport, I asked him if he would consider ever coming over to Santa Pod to race. His response was "we've had offers, we have had offers"
So, at least the questions and offers have been made.....
Very slightly O/T but Force has been talking about this for a while. You might like to read this - although have a tall coffee by your side as it is quite long: www.eurodragster.com/news/john_force.aspSo, at least the questions and offers have been made.....
JF will never run outside the US. Even when he decides to quite driving he is still a team owner and the sponsors will want him here (US) and not in Europe where the market is very thin.
On another angle I am still lost in thought why Europeans want to race in the US and stand little chance of winning, let alone making the field, while there is a better chance to do better in Europe. All that money being spent overseas and not one penny being contributed to the furtherence of European Drag Racing.
On this current topic I see most TF teams not doing all the FIA events in 2010 and will be won again by Carter.

a) maybe the big fish/small fish big pond/little pond syndromeb) maybe the chance to mix it in the big time
c) maybe looking for a regular drive and move to the states
It would take an awful lot of money to get John Force to come and race over here. The reality as Bob quite rightly says, is that pressure from sponsors amongst many other factors means it is very unlikely to happen.
Whilst I can understand the desire of the Europeans to go and race at some NHRA events, it does make me question whether it does more detriment to the sport in Europe, than good. I would sooner see the money been invested by the top teams doing the full tour in Europe and taking the fight to the self proclaimed King.
Whatever happens roll on 2010 and the chance to witness another great seasons racing, two or four wheels and from the juniors to the mighty fuellers it is all good to me.

We are told we all live in a "Global vilage" nowadays, and im sure most of the big sponsors stateside sell goods here, they dont seem to sponsor this side of the pond though...Castrol (who have a while ago)
Macdonalds (I can think of one ready-made team for them)
Budweiser (who have)
and so on.

I assume this is their own car not the one they ran last year which was rented. I saw this run a 4 a couple of years ago with Smax driving but I thought the reason they had not used it last year was that it needed updating due to rule changes.
Bill
the ebay and paypal fees on it would be quite a lot...........Bill
