Bit of a weird one but curious what people would do if they gave up drag racing???

Me, I think I'd go mad within about 6 months, but what about you lot?

Think if I need, I'd most likely get back into motocross

I let you know later in the year! Finances dictate that I'll be sitting out this year (or at least the first part of it). I'll still be at the larger meetings as a spectator, of course, but it'll be odd not racing.

Think more people are in that boat than you realise, think its harder for alot this year than this time last year.

Harsh thing though to have to sit out of any event(s)

Yep, I was expecting this to be a good year, too. But a combination of some unexpectedly expensive changes to my car and a need to put most of my spare racing funds into my girlfriend's business mean I just can't afford it. That said, I've been fretting about how I was going to make it out in time for Easter. Now I've made the decision that I won't do so, it feels like a weight's been lifted from my shoulders. Hopefully I can save enough pennies up to be back out next season (or maybe even later this year).

If i didnt go drag racing i guess i would have to put an awning in the garden to stand under when its raining winksmile

Joking aside i gave up racing a few years back and really dont miss it anymore , still like to keep an eye on things and go to the odd meeting but prefer trackdays and suchlike

I'd go back to scuba diving; buy a load of new gear as my old kit is out of date, book a couple of weekly liveaboards each year, use up all my weekends driving all around the UK staying in rough B&B's to get cold in murky water, trying to find tighter and tighter spaces on old wrecks to squeeze into.........actually thinkinbg about it, perhaps I'll stick the drag racing for another year.

I've got no idea, probably like Luke said, go mad

There's no concept of no racing in my mind, I've never been without it

Still ongoing...dont want to say much on here, but the police are involved....I cant see me getting anything back apart from the car (which is up for sale, with probably THE most expensive front suspension set up known to man!). Im not the only one he did over, lets put it that way.

Just need to shift it so I have money in the divorce fund pot and can also afford another kite or 2, then get back out to scaring myself silly with mother nature!!

We tried packing up in 2008.....and the following event started crewing on a Pro Mod team.....and then started building a even quicker, more expensive race car ha ha....best laid plans and all that. I guess once it gets in your blood you're in it for life :-)

Drag Racing is an addictive drug. Whilst you go into remission you never come off it. I have tried and tried and tried. I got hooked in 1964 and in the 70's and 80's crewed and then raced. Did my brains in money...went into rehab...and flirted with it ever since. Last year was my first year of not going to the pod...but still went racing as i couldn't help myself when in the states. Now desperately crave speed and G forces!!!! Thank god i can my fix in the USA soon.
