I agree with Andy, you'll need the extra gear with a 3000lb car so TH400.

Thanks for the replies / advice guys.
I have a TCI TH350 which I used to run in the car when I had 400bhp motor in, this needs re-building, is it worth a try?

No,unless you want to keep rebuilding it.

Ran 10.6's with my TH350 and 355 Chevy back in the 80s, never had any problems with it.Only had a shift improver kit and a 4500 converter in a 65 Nova.
I agree with Andy though, should be running quicker with that combo.
What box did you run with the current set up you've listed?

Talk to Rick Mccann and Carla Pittau, I think they run TH350s exclusively and will have learned how to make them live.

I actually spoke to Carla on Saturday, they run TH350`s in both cars and obviously get good results. Thanks for the advice Carla !!

The 11.33et 1.65 60foot I mentioned were using my TH350 with the set up in this post, unfortunatly it was getting ready for a rebuild by that time.

It was in unknown condition at the beginning of last year, when I started using it and it worked without any problems all season. Only when I changed to a more powerful engine, it started to show signs of failing in the oil.

I changed to a Powerglide with transbrake, unfortunatly to date I haven`t matched the times achieved with the TH350.

My plan now is to rebuild the TH350, put it back for the rest of this season, then look inside it and see how well it is taking the extra power.

Not saying it won't work but if you want long term reliability a TH400 makes much more sense. You won't have to look inside one of those if they're built properly.
If you'd ever seen inside one you'd know why i'm telling you this.
You should have gone and asked some of the guys at the summer nats who were running 400's that we've done for them.
ah well,good luck with it...
