Soz, I don't want to hi-jack this thread, but I have a related question,
the answer to which may help answer the first question - does anybody
have knowledge of how much fuel delivery is needed to support, say, 1000 HP?

Most pumps seem to be rated in GPM, (which I assume is US gallons), what
would the recommended min GPM be for 1000 HP on Petrol, motor only?

pumps for gasoline carbs 1000 hp are rated in GPH
pumps for alky and blowers are GPM,

youd do better asking your question on the tech section of drag-zone.net
theres a far bigger knowledge base there than there is here

Blown alky we use about 5 gallons from fire up, burnout, back up and run. Running alky is much easier blown than petrol and with the price of c16 it's a no brainer

I had a 454 with an 850 double pumper in a 69 Chevelle and it used 1 gallon per burnout/run drive back to the pits.

+1...around 1 gallon a run inc fireup/burnout/run/return to pits...
