Apologies if this thread has been done before but I'm curious to know what the fastest road legal cars are.

As a Vauxhall fan I'm aware of Andy Speck's Tigra (and Red Victor 1) I'm more interested in the fastest N/A cars 2.0 and under both turbo and n/a (can include cars with the likes of a C20XE bored out to a 2.1)

Andy Waite's mk1 Golf with a 1.8T and Haldex 4wd went 9.86@145mph on (I think) street tyres, and as far as I'm aware it's fully road legal as well

I thought the street eliminator cars were all street legal ? John Sleath's Audi is taxed and tested, he drove it on the road for 5th Gear recently, and it has run 7.6 at over 190 mph. The old Red Victor was street legal and I understand the new Pro Mod one will be as well and that would need to be much faster.

I'm guessing not many people pay attention to naturally aspirated cars then?

That is, thank you smile

Just done a quick google and it turns out its on throttle bodies and running nitrous oxide (http://www.clubgti.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1691276) but still, that's useful info.

na thats paul jordan, that is road legal but 4wd with a 2L turbo with nitrous has ran a high nine.

Paul Bargates car does run with nitrous but the 11.95 was without nitrous

Thanks for keeping people on track for me smile lol

This thread should get interesting once I've found more fast road legal N/A beasts.

Basically, a mate of mine has a Nova on throttle bodies and wants to know what he's up against and I thought I'd ask on here as he doesn't have time for forums and stuff with a kid, house and girlfriend so he says (he's just lazy really lol)

He's currently rebuilding it with 88mm Cosworth pistons, PEC rods, steel crank, +2mm valve head, Piper cams, springs, steel spring retainers, Arrow solid lifters, REC valves and colsibro valve guides etc etc

No nitrous though.

I think he's aiming to be the fastest N/A FWD car in the UK, hence me trying to find out what times he's got to beat, if any.

Why limit the engine size, though? My car is road legal, N/A, but the engine is somewhat larger than the 2 litres you're talking about..

Because I want to know the fastest 2.0 cars like I said in the first post.

Feel free to post some pics and info up about your car though smile

i'd suggest your friend signs up for www.eurosportscompact.co.uk its a heads up class run by santa pod,
there are weight limits and different classes for different types of chassis, to try to keep it competitive.

hope to see him at a round this year,
