Bought some Avon slicks for RWYB, are these allowed?
Thought I had better ask before putting them on the rims.
Thanks
Barrie

You'll be fine, as long as they're not about to fall apart and don't look like they'll rip the track to shreds, scrutineering will let you pass..

What are they going on? We've had many debates/discussions in the past around the merits of slicks on street cars..

Unfortunately, putting slicks on a car is a lot more complex than it sounds...

A lot can be done with street tyres, and potentially using more drag oriented tyres, but, the harder you grip, the more parts you put at risk...

Are you intending to run the car regularly on the strip/track? I seem to remember that TDOs aren't fans of slicks without a bunch of other changes for tracks that include corners..

Sorry, Track Day Operators..

If you are thinking about getting stuck into drag racing, I'd stick with street tyres to begin with to see how you get on, think about some adjustable suspension to allow you to optimise weight transfer and then, in the long term consider tyre upgrades.. Although, these tyre upgrades will bring with them the potential requirement to carry out drivetrain upgrades, half shafts, diff, prop, gearbox and ultimately engine are all at risk from heavy launches...

I'm not trying to discourage you, but it's vital that you go into this with your eyes wide open.. Doing that will allow you to get stuck in and really enjoy a fantastic motorsport..

Thanks for the advice slinky.
I have had a few goes before and managed 13.15 @ 109.4mph.
I just wanted to get into the 12's and thought that this would help. Perhaps I should get some less aggressive tyres such as R888's.
Glad I posted this as was also going to put 'tyre softner' on the slicks as wellyikes

Technique and experimentation with the setup of the car will most probably net you that extra tenth..
